Dinner: California Grill, Brown Derby, 'Ohana, Cape May, Rose and Crown, Boma, House of Blues

I think the California Grill is now one of my most favourite restaurants. I had the Yellowfin Tuna and my boyfriend had the Mahi-Mahi. We shared a flatbread appetizer and a Chocolate Crunch Pyramid (it's tiny but there's so much chocolate!). The service was great and we were seated almost immediately at 8:45PM. We went because we'd heard it was a good place to watch FIFS but will definitely return for dinner even on a non-fireworks night.

We booked the Brown Derby as part of the FDP. I think it cost $36.99/adult (not sure of the children's price) and we got to choose one appetizer, one entree and one dessert each. I ordered the portobella mushroom raviolo, the lamb (I didn't care for the red cabbage that came with it) and the dark chocolate torte. My boyfriend had the crab cake, filet minon and the creme brulee. I'm glad that we booked the package because the show was packed the next night (it rained that night, so the show was cancelled).

The Rose and Crown is one of our favourites. We booked at 7:40 PM hoping to watch IllumiNations from the patio but it didn't really work out. We were seated at a table on the left side of the patio, our view was partially obstructed by the awning. We decided that we would eat quickly and watch the fireworks elsewhere. One thing I did notice was the number of people who insisted that when they made their PS, they were told they were guaranteed a seat on the patio to watch IllumNnations. I thought some of the parties were quite rude about it but the staff were able to handle themselves well. :) I didn't notice many people leaving the patio after 7:30 PM, so I guess if you really want a patio seat, you'll have to make your PS before then. One warning about the food, it is heavier than it looks! You may not have room for dessert. :p

We also enjoyed a dinner at O'Hana. We weren't too sure of how things worked there, so we loaded up on appetizers and were pretty stuffed by the time the skewers arrived. My favourites were the steak and shrimp! I also ordered a mixed drink and was carded by the waitress :o I was amused and flattered! If you have kids, they've got coconut races and hula hoop games to keep them occupied (when they're not eating).

The food at Boma was great as usual! We were a little disappointed that they didn't have the coconut curry soup or the ribs (they only serve ribs on Monday and Wednesday). We ran into a little problem when we asked for the check which cost us 45 minutes :( I explained the problem more in depth here... http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=382294

I thought Cape May was okay, maybe because we'd already been spoiled by all of the other restaurants :p. I was a little disappointed with the clams and mussels because most of the shells were empty. Of course, I didn't realize that until I got back to the table . If you eat here, don't forget to save room for dessert! They've got some great ones!

We ate at House of Blues on a night where we didn't have any other plans. You'll get seated right away as long as you arrive early, we got there at 6:00 PM, and it wasn't too busy yet. We shared an appetizer of catfish nuggets (yummy) and I had a blackened chicken sandwich and my boyfriend had the Jambalaya. It is a huge meal, not only is the bowl wide, but it is also deep! The two of us had trouble finishing the entire thing! If you have a Disney Club card, you can get 10% off here!

We also ate at the CBR and AKL food courts a couple of times. If you have any questions let me know :p

your report!LOL;)

I remember those days when they used to card me!

Ok, so now I have added Boma's to our Wednesday! Don't want to miss out on those ribs!

I also would like to try California Grill but waiting for August hours before I book. One of my wishes is gonna be to get DD into the Neverland Club for the night while I do a Solo run! Hopefully we will get an e-night?

Keep your reports coming!

Still have a few openings for meals!

Enjoyed your reviews. The mahi mahi sounds very good!

Loved your reviews they were great - that chocolate pyramid is to die for.

Thanks for the reviews, you ate at some of my favorite restaurants! How was the food at the Caribbean Beach food court? We're staying there for the first time in October...

swankybeth, the food court was alright ... standard food (hamburgers, pizzas, chicken fingers) at average prices. It can get a bit boring after a while (like most of the food courts). After a while, we'd take the bus to Epcot and eat there and then walk around the Boardwalk for a while before heading back.

If you put on 10 lbs reading, imagine how much I weigh now *lol* ... I believe I will be spending most of my free time at the gym! :p

Are you going to try and watch the fireworks from CG?

Thanks for sharing!!! Luv readfing restaurant reviews.

Right now have just booked the essentials:

Spirit of Aloha
Cirque De Soleil
Mickey's BBQ
Hoop Dee Doo
San Angel Inn - really for the Marguaritas!
And now of course Bomas for a Wednesday for ribs!

If e-nights happen when I have a free night, would rather spend it doing the rides DD won't! By sending her off to Neverland, the last thing I will want is a heavy meal that late after riding stuff like Space Mountain!. It seems the older you get the harder to take these rides!;)

I hate having to wait for the hours to come out!
