Where to watch Illuminations when arriving short before the show begins?

We have a dinner reservation at Yachtsman Steakhouse and after this we plan to arrive at Epcot 20-30 minutes before Illuminations begins.

We do not expect then to get a spot on a rail anywhere, but what from what point will we get an acceptable viewing spot for the show? Any secret places with good chances for a nice view short before the show begins?

I once walked in through the International Gateway 10 minutes before Illuminations, grabbed a Grey Goose Slushie in France and found a spot right along the railing there. It was lovely.

So yes, it can be done. It depends a lot on events that day and general crowd level, as well as how many people you have in your party.

If you don't care as much about the globe in the middle of the lagoon, then you can see most of the show from almost anywhere around the showcase.
