Hoping to go with the family for 3 days in May tacked on to a work trip. Any recommendations on where to stay if we don't stay onsite. Thanks!

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn on Anaheim last week and we really liked it. The distance from the park is good (7 min walk). The hotel was very clean and quiet and we got fresh Seattle's Best coffee in the onsite restaurant every morning. I would highly recommend it!

It depends on what is important to you in where you stay.

Is location more important, do you want to stay within a short walking distance from the parks?

Is cost more important?

Is motel vs hotel more important?

Is the pool more important?

Is free breakfast more important?

For my family, we put location as the most important factor so we generally stay at one of the motels directly across the street from the entrance. If it is just the 3 of us, we will stay at the Desert Inn & Suites but my sister in law joined us last time so we stayed at the Park Vue Inn. (DI&S is less expensive but PVI has a WAY better breakfast which more than made up for the extra cost for the room.

I second the recommendation of the Park Vue Inn. Directly across the street, free wifi, parking and breakfast. It's clean and feels safe.

I also agree with Park vue Inn if we get to go back we won't stay anywhere else, unless I win the lottery and we get to stay onsite :rotfl2: The free breakfast is AWESOME the rooms were clean and we never had any problems while we were there, there is no elevator so If stairs are an issue request a bottom room

We stayed at Desert Inn & Suites - clean, elevators, indoor pool, free Wi-Fi, free basic breakfast (they recently remodelled the breakfast room - don't know if they made changes to the breakfast also), fridge, microwave, staff were fantastic, short walk to main gates, roof top viewing deck, the earlier you can book the cheaper the room rates. We had a parlour suite with a little lounge room area with its own tv as well as a tv in the bedroom, we could also see some fireworks from our rear window. If I can ever save up the money to come back to Disneyland I would stay here again.

While we have stayed at many of the local hotels, The Park Vue directly across from the entrance to DLR is our favorite.
You really can't have a shorter walk to the DL turn-styles.
They have continued to update the rooms and facilities.
The free breakfast buffet is the best in the area.
They have the warmest and newest pool.

Another vote for the Park Vue. You can't beat the location. Absolutely the closest property, on or offsite, to DL maingate. Free parking and free hot breakfast. Fantastic value.

Park Vue vote. Just back from our trip and couldn't be more pleased with our stay there. Room seemed recently updated and comfortable beds. Breakfast the best I've had as a free one with protein included eggs and sausage along with waffles and standard cereals etc. Lots of seating too which is unusual. Saves alot to have a free breakfast with prices as Disneyland.

And of course you cannot get much closer literally out the door to sidewalk where the light is and walkway to Disneyland. Definitely will stay there in the future.

On the disboards, the HOJO is highly recommended. Although it may not be right across the street, it is still within easy walking distance (less than ten minutes?). It has a great pool area if you have kids, and has great service and amenities. But it can be a bit expensive, though, as in high season, it can climb up to a few bucks less of 200$ a night. But you get a hotel, not motel, if that is what you're after. But if your goal is to save money, there are many old, run-down and kitschy budget motels around DL. Before booking a hotel, make sure to read reviews on tripadvisor to make sure it isn't that bad. Also, request a renovated room if the hotel is going throuh renovations.
