Everytime we have gone to Disney in the past we have stayed on property...this time since we are going as part of a 3wk road trip i would like to stay somewhere cheaper. we have 2 adults and 4 kiddos and i would like to stay within walking distance since we will be going next yr in June and we can take a pool break in the middle of the day.:woohoo:

i have heard the Desert Inn is good and someone said there was a guy with a great link to the closest hotels/map. Any info would be great. We will only be at Disney for 3 days, so i don't need a palace, just someplace nice.

Thanks

I've also heard great things about Howard Johnsons. We like the Sheraton, but that was before kids and you need to take the shuttle rather than walk.

can anyone get the entertainment priceing at HoJo's? I don't have a book and don't know much about them or the hotel....

:cool1: Wow i went to make dinner and already there are replies..

thanks for the Map!!!

The Desert Inn is very reasonable and would accommodate all of you. It's directly across the street from the entrance plaza. It's very basic, but clean.

You might also want to consider one of the suites at the Carousel Inn and Suites. They have some that have two bathrooms, which would be nice for your large family. They also have some with a view of the park. The hotel has recently renovated, and I've heard good things about their beds.

I hope this helps!

We stayed at the Park Vue Inn (directly across the street, next door to IHOP) and we had a good experience there. Very convenient.

They have a bunk bed room available now too.

My vote is the Desert Inn and Suites. We will be there in June.We stayed there last Oct.and it was good.Very much like a hotel but clean. The breakfast wasn't great but better than nothing and saves money. If you book early you can get a great deal. You can always cancell later. They are pretty good about that as well since we had to do it once.

We have stayed at the HoJO but it is just too far at night to walk back to and it isn't that much nicer and has no breakfast. You would also need a suite which they only have a couple,I think or 2 rooms.

We also stayed at the Park Vue Inn last Dec. and it was just okay. The floors were very dirty and the rooms very small even with the bunkbeds. The staff wasn't very freindly either. They also have no vanity outside the bathroom so it will take longer getting ready in the morning.

Good luck in your decision.

I have stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn directly across from the entrance to the park. They had a continental breakfast or pancakes daily. We had to get 2 rooms but that actually worked out really well. The rates were very good.

How old are your kids? If they are a bit older, then walking won't be an issue and an outdoor pool is a must in June - so that leaves out Desert Inn (it has an indoor pool). HoJo has the best pool (IMO) within walking distance - you'll need two rooms, but the cost will probably be similar to the Desert Inn suite. Call the HoJo directly and ask for "In House Reservations" and the "Entertainment Rate". You don't need to the card to make a ressie, but must show it at check in. We've stayed at many of the across the street properties (such as BWPPI, Park Inn, Carrousel) and we now choose the HoJo exclusively...their pool beats the free Continental Breakfast and small, icky pools.

We stayed here in June last year got a deal on a two week stay for $69 per night! Really close to DL excellent service, only negatives are the rooms are not huge and the pool is small

How about Embassy Suite Anaheim South it absolutely beautiful and also has a free cook to order breakfast!!!!!!!!

When I was calling around to various hotels asking about connecting rooms, not one hotel would guarantee it so we ended up booking a suite.

We'll be staying in one of the larger suites at the Desert Inn and we have 4 adults, 1 child and my mom is stopping over for a couple of nights. It has 4 queen beds, 2 full baths and at $169/night that is about $85/night for each room (their suites are basically two rooms with connecting doors).

It's walking distance, so no shuttle issues, and if we dont' like their "continental breakfast" (little danish, coffee, juice) we can just walk down to McDonalds.

We'll be there for 4 nights so I hope it's nice! I did a lot of research on message boards, Trip Advisor and calling the hotels directly for their rates and this one was going to be the best for the money and the number of people. I had to have 2 bathrooms!

Another option is the Residence Inn Maingate. They have a nice pool, full breakfast included, and up to 2 bedroom suites. If you have the time and patience you can keep checking the internet and take advantage of their Look No Further Best Rate guarantee (they will give you 25% off any published internet rate on the same room if it is below the rate on their web site). We were able to get our studio suite for $75 a night in October.
