Hi we are getting our prices now for our DFTW in Nov 07.

I need help with accommodation, we have narrowed it down to two choices:

A. Port Orleans Riverside
B. Animal Kingdom Lodge

I would really appreciate your help so if you have stayed at either I would love to hear your comments.

Thanks in advance

my husband & i have stayed at akl twice, it is a beautiful resort. the colors are warm, theres lots of wood & the lobby is ornate. the rooms are comfortable & the balcony view of the savannah was awesome. we loved sitting out there in the morning & at night after wdw to watch the animals. another great things about akl is the restaurants jiko with its dinner & wine pairing is delicious as is the variety at the buffet at boma, also the bar there is so good, i love the victoria falls drink. theres also a health club at akl that offers some spa treatments, we had massages there in november 2003. the pool is nice, we loved sitting near the trees at the hot tub. definetly a great choice for a disneymoon.

If you can afford the extra money, hands down stay at AKL. my dh and i are going for our belated honeymoon in 10 days and we are staying at Riverside because AKL was $400 extra, and I'm STILL debating if I should try to upgrade. AKL is incredible and a once in a lifetime experience...you cannot go wrong!

I have stayed at both and I really do love both of them but AKL is my favorite hotel. Being in a deluxe resort really is a difference at Disney and you can see it the minute you walk in the lobby. I can not say enough about our stay there it is just breathtaking and super romantic...the lobby, the smells, the rooms oh and the view! ;)

I narrowed my choices to Animal Kingdom Lodge and Polynesian Resort...and chose the Polynesian...so Animal Kingdom Lodge! :thumbsup2

Another vote for AKL!! We have stayed there twice and absolutely loved it both times. We were there last year for 7 nights as part of our honeymoon and we were upgraded to a Savanah view room (can't remember which savanah view it was). We love the theming of the resort, the pool is great, as are the hot tubs. Boma is one of our favourite on-site restaurants to visit and we will be going again on our upcoming trip!! :cool1: As already posted, if you can afford the extra $$ then I say go for it, you won't regret it!!

Thank you for your replies

Do you know if all the standard rooms have a view of the parking lot? If yes I think we will have to upgrade to a pool view or savannah room.
Is it noisey/smelly there due to the Animals?

I have heard good things about both resorts and I think David's first choice would be AKL. I will give the holiday company a call today to see how much AKL would be.

AKL is fabulous so that would be my first choice.

If it comes down to money and decide to go to Port Orleans Riverside it really is a lovely resort! Ive stayed there recently and had a lovely time!

Just in case it is needed....another vote for the AKL....fabulous hotel.
The whole atmosphere there really is excellent and we loved the stories in the evening from the African Natives about Savannah life.
The pool is great, as are the Hot Tubs !

We had a pool view (sort of) and there was no smell from the animals, even when you went to the Savannah viewing areas.

You will not be disappointed !

POR is beautiful if you prefer to stay at that budget point.

If you want to treat yourselves for the wedding, AKL all the way! If you can make this request, see if you can stay in a room in one of the "wings" rather than one of the rooms right on the lobby. The sound in the lobby every morning woke us up before 7am! Perhaps those are all standard view rooms...we did have a parking lot view.
