Where to stay /timeshare

I've never seen Bonnet Creek show up, so that would be a long shot. As mentioned, there are lots of terrific RCI resorts in the area.

I'd add Summer Bay to the list above, and a lot of people like Orange Lake Country Club, though my family didn't care much for it.

Wyndham Bonnet Creek is extremely unlikely on an RCI exchange. However, you may also like one of our other favorite RCI resorts (listed in order of ID #, not preference, but they are all nice):

1276 Sabal Palms (Marriott)
1699 Royal Palms (Marriott)
2619 Cypress Harbour (Marriott)
2750 Cypress Pointe Resort
3517 Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Sea World
3995 Fairfield Orlando at Cypress Palms
3996 Cypress Pointe Grande Villas Resort – 3BR only
4852 Oasis Lakes at the Fountains
6059 Sheraton Vistana Villages
6309 Hilton Grand Vacations Club on Int’l Drive
6884 Houses at Summer Bay Resort
7605 The Fountains
8080 Cypress Pointe Grandvillas
8646 Vacation Internationale Cypress Pointe Resort
8881 Orange Lake’s River Island

If you request a unit that sleeps 6 as a minimum, you will avoid the problems that some people have had with smaller, lock-off 1BRs at some of these (ex., limited kitchen, no balcony, no jacuzzi tub, no washer/dryer or no view). Units that sleep 6 are 2BRs or 3BRs so they have all the nicer features offered at these resorts. Have fun!!! :)

Since your brother said you could use his unit for the fees I think you should go that route. Bro is cheaper too... but there is another option.

If your parents have Interval they could get a Getaway Week for you. It'll be more than the $200ish your brother is charging but you might be able to find a resort you want by going that route.

By the way the same questions apply ...what resort does your brother own etc.

rci when it comes to Orlando is less picky.

just about any fair (not even reasonable) resort will get you can excellent resort in Orlando.

Well I have been pouring over the RCI website and have found several resorts that I really like.

Now thinking fom the Mommy stand point I have narrowed my search. Of course I still want Bonnet Creek but realise it may never come to be... The next in line for family (kids) sake seems to come up to Orange Lakes River Island.

I looked at Orange lake on tripadvisor.

Of course I have yet another question.

Even though the "River Island" Has its own resort number through RCI can you be put in a different section even if that is the section you traded for? (They have 4 different areas each with its own number)

I'm not really sure why this has become an obsession for me. In 2005 we used my brother in laws timeshare. We sat down in their living room... looked at what was available with out reading reviews and chose a condo. It was in Old Town and beautiful. I was thanking my lucky stars they wanted to some how pay us back for the amount of babysitting I do for them. Poof it was done in a matter of 15 minutes. My youngest child, Now 11 started talking on that trip to Disney while riding splash Mtn. He has Autism. More than Disney he loves water...:beach: The water park/ lazy river has me! I loved the thought of Bonnet Creek with their lazy river... and a slight possibility to see fire work in Pj's. Orange Lakes River Island gives me half of all that!

Thanks to everyone for your vast knowledge!

Anyone ever stay at Silver Lake Resort? Looks like they have 4 pools and can see fireworks....

Its done. Again I would like to thank everyone! My brother went ahead and got a 2 bedroom at Silver Lake. He took the stress away and gave us the booking for Christmas. I'm so excited! We got the exact dates that work for our vacation and I'm pleased. I hope I can say that next May!:rotfl:

Silver Lake is perhaps a bit worn around the edges, but gets generally favorable reviews. It's location is OUTSTANDING for visiting Disney; it is perhaps 2 minutes away from AKL, and you can enter Disney property through the "back entrance" without ever touching US-192.

Enjoy!

Dated is fine with me... My house is 30 years old and i sometimes feel dated when we get home after staying in all the glitz...

Thanks Brian! ~Donna

I haven't stayed in Silver Lakes because of the extra fees.

but some people who post here - say that you can refused some of the fees when you check in.

It is less than a minute from WDW property - it is next to it.

go out the back exit - turn left - at the traffic light (really before) you are on wdw property - go right for the parks - left for AKL.

Boma's at AKL is a great place to eat!:thumbsup2

because of the extra fees.
You mean the housekeeping? I think that's only for partial-weeks RCI Points reservations. As I understand it, Weeks exchanges, or Points exchanges that book a full week, don't incur additional housekeeping fees.

thank you Brian.

the last time I looked at Silver Pointe - it was a few years ago.

there were two fees - one for housekeeping, but another one much higher was also being charged RCI members.:confused3

So Silver Point is back on the list!!!

Is the staff friendly and nice?

I haven't stayed there, and I don't recall any fees other than the housekeeping fee applied to RCI exchangers, so I may be mis-informed.

What extra fees? eek: and do they apply for an RCI exchange?

they don't anymore.

at one time when you went through RCI - there was to be an extra fee of $50? for trading there - plus a daily extra charge for housekeeping.

there is a still a fee for housekeeping if your stay is less than a week.

but a week or longer no fees.

I was reading it as you were paying daily for housekeeping.

love being WRONG!:yay:

I spoke with a very nice young man at Silver Lake. He was very kind. He said with my phone number and last name and check in date he could put in my request for building 1000, fireworks side, Up high!... He said the 2 bedroom would have a a king in each bedroom and a queen sleep sofa in the living area. It has a full kitchen and a washer and dryer and a screened balcony.

He said to call back during the week before the arrival date to double check on the request. They don't assign rooms until the week before the arrival date.

He and I laughed as I had to start talking in code because the trip is a surprise and my youngest walked in. He then did most of the talking. I lucked out as there is a Silver Lake we swim at only 20 minutes from home... My kids think I'm dreaming of summer.:rotfl:

I did ask about added fees. He said for RCI there isn't any extra fees... unless you want EXTRA maid service... Ran down the fees for each unit size... He said the one down fall with RCI is that you can only trade there once every 4 years... ??? (it is the same for several resorts that my brother loves in New England...)

Silver Lake may well have a 1-in-4 rule, but there are so many nice resorts close to Disney that it really doesn't matter that much.
