Where to stay one night

DH and I are considering arriving a day before our son and his family for our one week stay at OKW. Where should we stay? I am leaning towards the Poly or GF but POFQ would also be nice. We are empty nesters and for decades travel was outside of our budget. We’re finally able to indulge a bit. What’s your favorite one night stay for an older couple?

I'd go with the GF and dinner at Narcoossee for that one night

My first thought was the Poly because of the ease to jump on monorail and check out the other deluxe resorts .
You probably won’t have the time to do this once family arrives.
Riviera for the Skyliner would be second choice .
Fort Wilderness Cabin to have fun driving golf carts in the Wilderness too.
Letusknow what you decide!

What's your budget? If you have not stayed at AKL, then I would suggest there, since it's the most unique resort and it has good restaurants and just a great experience.
I would stay at Riviera :)
We loved seeing the resort when we were at CBR.

I would love that. Will put that at the top of our list.

When we stayed at CBR we walked to the Skyliner at Riveria daily. Loved the look of it. I am really leaning towards Poly at this point. A lazy pool session in the afternoon, Drinks, dinner, and fireworks on the beach before (happily) starting grandparent duties the next day.

We can splurge and go up to $700-800 +/-, if it’s worth it. We have only stayed at CBR on property. We did a lot of dining at different resorts that stay, but it was 2021 and some things were still closed due to Covid.

I vote AKL. I’ve personally never considered it because AK is our least favorite park. But I’ve heard it’s beautiful and I would definitely consider it for a one night stay where parks don’t matter.

I hanging out at the resort and you like animals, definitely AKL. If you like to visit resorts, Poly. Poly allows you to visit multiple resorts easily. Even making a fun dinner date, apps at GF, meal at Cont., and dessert at Poly (or anyway you want to do it!) I love the Poly vibe of walking around outside and you still see the firework!

Penthouse suite at Swan/Dolphin. I know it's not "Disney", but the penthouse is special, and you'll be close to many great dining options.

For me it would be between the WL (either a hotel room or using points at Boulder Ridge) or the Riviera. We have enjoyed several stays at both resorts.

Or maybe consider a concierge-level room. We’ve done this for short stays (1-3 nights) as a special treat.

It's just DH & I (in our 50's). For us, it's almost always going to be Poly. It's such a beautiful resort, it just feels magical to me. We also love BWI.

Others have mentioned AKL & that would be great for a one night stay. If you decide to go w/ AKL you really need to eat at Jiko if you haven't already!

In that case… with a plan like yours? Poly all the way! There is so much fun to be had.

Nobody has mentioned my favorite...Beach Club (or Yacht Club). That whole area is gorgeous and has Skyliner access plus multiple restaurants and lounges. You also mentioned having a nice pool day and that resort has the best pool on property.

I would actually stay at OKW in the same room type as the rest of the week and have the CS link the 2 reservations together as a continuing stay…that way, your son and family won’t have to worry about the room being ready when they get there the next day and you can just unpack one time. With checkin at 4 and checkout at 11 - there really isn’t (to me) enough time to really relax and enjoy a different resort…and you could always go to Disney Springs and use the Disney buses to visit/dine anywhere you want that first night or order food delivered and sit and relax on the best balcony of any Disney resort…

We did one night in the Poly tower and enjoyed our evening.

I’d also vote for Riviera as a great place for some alone time to have a great meal and cocktails (if that’s something you enjoy).

I’d vote for the Poly or Animal Kingdom Lodge. Those have a nice intimate atmosphere with some great dining options.
