where to stay one night before going on to Vero for a week

We have a vacation planned over Thanksgiving for a week at Vero to start on a Saturday. We will be flying into Orlando Friday afternoon and want to stay at a hotel with a nice pool. I am not sure if we want to use points for a one night stay or just stay off property for one night before travelling on to Vero the next day.

I booked it this way so that we could have dinner at The Flying Fish (my favorite restaurant) while we were in Orlando, and also so that we wouldn't waste an entire day flying and then driving the two hours to Vero.

It is also a possibility that dh would take our two older kids to Universal for the afternoon, which they have never been to, or we would use old tickets that still have one day left on them to go to Epcot for the evening.

Any suggestions?

I would make cash reservations for the one night and save my points. Because you are eating at Flying Fish, I would try to stay on-site, either at Riverside or CBR, or try for one of the discounted rates at S & D. I just can't see staying off-site.

You might want to see if you could get a good price at AKL. If you do think you want to stay on-site, you probably should make a reservation somewhere soon. Another option, especially if you want to change the Flying Fish plan, would be to try out one of the Universal hotels. (Did I say that?! )

I come up with two good options for you... Either stay in a BW studio for the night, since you are planning to go to the BW... or Stay at the Hardrock hotel over at Universal - it's 119.00 for the night with the entertainment discount... if you are going to do Universal, that's what I'd recommend.... Portofino with the discount was around 160 if I recall... it's supposed to be beautiful...

I needed to stay Saturday nite 11/24 before starting my BWV stay on Sunday 11/25. I am too cheap to use 20 points to stay on a Saturday so I tried priceline. Got Wyndham Palace for $50 plus taxes. I only bid for a four star in the WDW area.
