Where to stay on our way down to Disney

We've driven from Maine quite a few times and have gone a few different ways and I would agree with Dan about the Route he suggested.
Don't know if your husband is a "white knuckle" driver when it comes to lots of traffic, I know mine is when we go through the DC area or Garden State Parkway. We found that we added a bit of driving to our schedule but enjoyed driving much more through PA to Virginia which was very colorful and less stressful. BTW...my husband hates the Francis Scott Key bridge, thought it was too narrow and swore he would NEVER drive it again.

He doesn't like driving in the big cities because of the heavy traffic. Going thru PA is looking good! We went that way when we went to Washington and it was not a difficult ride. We were pulling a 5th wheel then.

We have made the trip between southeast NC and RI for years, mostly sticking to I95. We have started to encounter most of our problems in the Richmond VA area  sometimes sitting for hours. Its best to hit NYC in the wee morning hours.

I've never driven that route, so I can't help you there. But I would highly recommend Microsoft Streets & Trips with GPS. We use it to map out every trip and they show pretty much every campground that Woodall's shows.

Also, you said three days? It is only about 1200 miles from CT to FW, right? Why take three days when you can do it in two and have an extra day at the Fort? Just saying, good luck either way and have a fun, safe trip!

Here's another vote for taking I-84 to I-81 south like the other Dan said. Should save you some $$ on tolls also. When we came up Route 95 last April we paid around $27 on the Delaware bridge, then $50+ for the NJTP, then another $20-something to park on the George Washington Bridge for three hours on a Friday afternoon. Gonna take years of therapy to wipe that memory from my mind (or one really good trip to the Fort!)
