Where to Stay Marathon Weekend???

Has anyone been to Disney marathon weekend before? I am doing the 5K only and we plan to get in some park time. I've heard the buses from the resorts to the parks can be a nightmare because of the races...

Do you have any suggestions? I was thinking of staying at POP.

I read somewhere it's better stay closer to the parks though...

My Mom did the race a few years ago and stayed at Coronado Springs.
That is also were race check in was to pick up your number that year.

It was dumb luck, we did not know race check in was at CS when I booked it for her.

She seemed to really like CS, didn't mention any issues about buses or anything.

This will be DH's third marathon! We always pick a monorail resort for several reasons. The kids and I like to watch DH run down Main St. and then we monorail over to the finish line. We are at the MK really early and it makes it very easy to just hop on the monorail. Also I've heard lots of nightmare stories about not being able to get around on both the 1/2 and Full Marathon days. We usually do MK or EPCOT on the day DH isn't running because the monorail is right there, no need to wait for busses.

Last year, our friends stayed at the Grosvenor at Downtown Disney. They gave them a discount since they were running in the marathon. Don't know if that will be true this year.
