I came here looking for an answer to this specific question. I am looking for a clean hotel/motel room for a family of 5. That's it. I don't need a pool or fancy amenities. If we're conscious, we'll be at the parks. If we're at the hotel/motel, we'll be asleep. I would LOVE to stay on property, but the "family of 5" thing really runs the price tag up. Any suggestions?
We stick with suites and try for breakfast as well. Everyone knows to fill up!
Embassy Suites, our favorite is Lake Buena Vista South. Rates can have wide range based on dates.
Buena Vista Suites, very nice, great rates offered, great location. Look at Mousesaver's for special links and on BVS suite for one day specials.
Caribe Royal Suites, very nice, sister to BVS. No breakfast unless a special offered, higher priced but nicer amenities. Check their site for one day sales, sometimes really good. This weeks was great.
StayBridge Suites Lake Buena Vista, just went through big rehab and looks great. Has awesome breakfast buffet great for filling up for the day.
Doubletree Suites Downtown Disney, just rehabbed and very nice. Look at Mousesavers for savings link including breakfast. Has some good rates sometimes and only extra is parking.
Several of the DTD hotels will sleep 5 and a good option if you can get a special rate. Look here

Holiday Inn Resort on 535 has some Kidsuites that will sleep that many. Again look at Mousesavers for a link. Small resort fee.
Sometimes renting a timeshare condo can be your best bet. Our five just stayed at Wyndham Bonnet Creek in a two bedroom (1 King, 2 Doubles, 1 nice fold out sofabed, kitchen, 2 bathrooms and laundry) and we paid $88 a night with taxes. We didn't use much of amenities but love the space, location and size.
