Where to stay in Atlantic City?

Sheesh, when is the last time you've been to Atlantic City? I live in Ventnor (next town over from AC) and work in reservations at the Atlantic City Hilton.

Small world i work for city of ventnor. :thumbsup2
Yes there are things to do in a.c. that are safe, but when there are people that arent familiar with the surroundings of a.c ,can get in a bit of trouble, especially at night. The outlets at the walk are a nice place to shop, great restaurants in any of the casino's,or 10 miuntes away is the hamilton mall, you got the rides and boardwalk in ocean city,or even wildwood alittle farther down.Im just not a big fan of a.c i guess.

I can't believe I saw this thread. I am also planning to do a couple of days in AC this August w/children. We are only interested in spending 2 or 3 days at the beach before hitting NYC for a few days. The reason I thought of AC is because we can get a cheap priceline room there very easily during the week.

How is the beach itself? I was there MANY years ago and the beach was not horrendous. Is it really bad?

Hey neighboor! About this parking ticket.....LOL j/k!

I agree, Ocean City and Wildwood are great places to take the kids! (If only they did something about that parking in Ocean City..LOL)

DisneyRed- Memorial Day through Labor Day is the busiest time of year...especially on weekends!

I live in the heart of things here with only two spots and 4 cars. We've had tickets. In college I lived in Ventnor and had tickets until I paid for a parking permit which was $$$$.

Another vote for the Tropicana or the Hilton. We looove the Hilton; we usually stay here once a month (thank you comps!) The Trop is fun too, because of the Quarter (lots of shops and restaurants) and the IMAX theater. The beaches are good for us. We get a beach chair and umbrella and sit near the water to read. We are anxious to see The Pier near Caesar's. Will it really be done this summer? I see lots of families with children there, more than I've seen in a while.

I LOVE Ventnor, I spent every summer at the beach when we had our shore house there from the time I was born until I was 28. Boy do I miss it. But I agree with the earlier post, things have changed in AC for the better and I would not hesitate to go their with my kids, and as I have said before I do.
So maybe the OP can stay at the Taj for Ds (who loves the Donald), then drive over to OC for the boardwalk. Though I have to say my DS love the AC boardwalks for the games and trying to win sports jerseys. I find AC entertaining enough if you even just want to stay put.

This is an interesting post!!! We usually take my kids to A.C. once every summer...hey the beach is free, you don't need tags-LOL! Anyway, my kids usually have a great tiem. That being said, we usually only go for the day since the places are a little on the expensive side. Can anyone recommend a place to stay that's 15-20 minutes away from A.C. and is a little cheaper then the casino hotels? We may head down on Sun., July 30th for 1 night.
