I'm probably setting myself up by asking this question on a "Disney Resort" page, but I am holding two reservations and can't decide which one to cancel. It is just DH and I going. We will be going to both parks - Disney and Universal - during our stay. We will have a rental car for the week. We have Car. Beach reserved with the CTH code for $95/night, and we have the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal reserved with the Ent. rate for $119.

CB will save us some money

RP is a "deluxe" 4* resort

Which one should we choose and why??

CBR may only be a moderate but it has a wonderful feel about it. I truly feel like I have escaped to the islands when I stay at CBR.

You will have a great time no matter which resort you pick.

If this is for the trip at Christmas, I would go with the RPH reservation as that gives you FOTL access which will help you during what will be a fairly busy time. The ENT rate is great--unfortunately, the ones for 2004 aren't so good--my quote in June at RPH is $144-168 a night. Based upon quoted rates on the Universal forum, it might be the last time you can get this rate at RPH so that's the one I would pick.

I agree that you should choose the Royal Pacific Hotel at that rate. The Front of the Line Access cannot be beat. Both Universal parks are within walking distance of the RPR. The pool there is great too. It is a beautiful resort - you will not regret it.

Have you considered splitting your stay? Last trip in May 2003, we stayed 3 days at the Royal Pacific and enjoyed the Front of the Line at both parks, and then stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge Villas while we did the Disney thing. That worked out very well for us.

If splitting your stay is not an option (that's what I would do) then I would go with CBR, if you're going to spend most of your time at Disney.
RPR is very pretty and has a great pool. They have servers walking around the pool area to take drink orders. Front of the Access is awesome! And like someone said, it is within walking distance to US/IOA.
Just like JLS we stayed 3 days at Royal Pacific before moving over to Wilderness Lodge Villas, in May 03 too!

RPR is not pretty...It is a beautiful resort!! Catch the Luau there and also see if you can catch the Poly dancers and the guy with the fire at the pool. And you can also can catch the live steel drummer.

Stay with this resort...you will feel that you are not even in the US! You will have that Island feel.

For $119...GO FOR IT! This is a really nice deluxe hotel and it is only a short walk away from IOA and CityWalk. Also not so far distance from USF.

Remember...FOTL!! Stay on Universal property. And don't forget to hop to the other pools at the other two resorts. I think PBH has the most romantic feel and the pool is just incredible just like the other two resorts.

I'm thinking of heading out there this January and planning to stay at HRH and do the IOA and USF for some nights and renting a car to drive to Disney for AK and MK only for two days.
