Where to sit on SM and RNR?

I love these rides at DW, but I don't like to be going to fast or be bumped around too much! Where is the best place to sit on Space Mountain and Rock N' Rollercoaster if you are a chicken?

I would think the middle areas would be safest. On SM you have two 'cars' with 3 seats in each. I would look for the middle seat of the back car. On RnRC, towards the front of the limo, rather than the back.

On RnR you don't want the very front or the very last car. Somewhere NEAR the front would be your smoothest ride. I would say the same holds true for SM.

It seems weird, but the closer to the front, the smoother the ride. DH and I were so excited we we gonna ride on the front on Big Thunder. It felt like we were crawling. The front seat and the backseat are totally different rides.

The front seat on any roller coaster will give you the smoothest ride and the rear seat will have the roughest ride. If you don't want the front, then be towards the front of the train.

Space Mountain is a very bumpy, jerky ride. There are only two cars with three seatings in the front and three in the back - not side by side, you sit in like this:
1
2
3
4
5
6
I really don't know if there is a smooth ride on it ;)

Definitely the middle if you're looking for the overall "safest" experience (I mean in terms of being a chicken and not in terms of safety). That goes pretty much for any roller coaster I think.
The front and back I think are the most exciting seats for different reasons. Last trip I went to MGM for EMH and got to do RnR about 4 times in 20 minutes sitting in different parts of the car. We did both front row, back row and middle. They were all exciting but the front and back really give you a thrill. The front because you have nothing in front of you and really see the motion and the back because it's a great view of the rest of the cars especially on loops.

From experience of many rides, the FRONT car is definitely the smoothest (and the last car is the ROUGHEST)!!!!

When my tall, brave almost 5 yo DD rode RnR she LOVED it. We rode in the middle, her and her bigger brother, and me and DH.

The second time we rode she started to howl.
They brought things to a halt while everyone gave dirty stares to us for "forcing" a tot to go on RnR.

It turned out that what she was screaming about was that I was making her ride in the (smoother) center seat with us. Big Brother was in the back row and had told her he'd "pull more G's" than she would with me in the "baby seat. Just to show us she rode with her hands up the whole way.

The middle on the RNR is much smoother than the back.

I've been on SM a BUNCH of times and I found the back to be VERY rough. Maybe it's not so bad now--but it was last January. I MUCH prefer the very front seat or somewhere in the middle. I stay AWAY from the back seat!!!
