Ok all- I just went to the neatest yard sale that was HUGE and full of old antique type things.

I found the coolest old hat box, and of course it caught my eye because it said Disney! The top is bent in, but I didn't really mind. I have tried googling it and tried looking on ebay to compare values but can't find anything. It's not that I am looking to sell it or anything. I was just interested in its history and possible value.

Where can I research vintage DL stuff? I know that it has something to do w/ DL because there is an old label sticker on the top of the box w/ a handwritten note that it was for Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

Any thoughts????

She gave it to me for only $0.25 and I also found some old Disney comics from the 50's she gave me for $.50 each too!!!

Cool! Try checking on the Collectors Board section of this site (under category Just For Fun), but otherwise, one good source of info I used to turn to was Tomart's Disneyana magazine (look for them online). It is a great magazine for collectors but also you can send them those pictures and they will give you an estimate of the value of the item(s) and the origin(s).

Thanks Sherry for the idea about the magazine, I might just try that!

I did a little research and found this:

No value listed, but there's some info there you might be interested in. :thumbsup2

Interesting link.... they say that from what they can tell it had nothing to do with Walt. I wonder if this was a different Disney family or something. I still think it is neat regardless. Just kind of funny that the label mentions DL.

I used to actually subscribe to Tomart's Disneyana, but they may have it set up now so you can do a lot of things online, like post questions and pictures of items. Lots of people used to write and ask what a certain item they found was worth and what its history was. It was a really useful source of good info on all kinds of Disney collectors' items, past and present.
