My sister uses a wheelchair when she has to go any distance. She is able to use a walker for a shot period of time, but for Disneyland that's a no go. I would like to rent her one of those power chairs so I don't have to push her everywhere and she won't feel like such a burden. Where would I rent one and do they deliver to the hotels?

We used Deckert too.....my father needed it and it was WONDERFUL! They delivered it right to the bell hop desk outside of the DLH and it was waiting for us when we got there. When we left DLH we simply dropped it off at the bell hop desk and that was that. We will be using them again next summer for both of my folks. :-) I would highly recommend them.

Here is the information for Deckert's:

Deckert Surgical and Homecare
2025 N Main St
Santa Ana, CA 92706
(714) 542-5607

We got the phone number from the cast member when we booked our package. They didn't set it up for us but I was thankful they gave us the phone number. And like I mentioned earlier...I was very impressed with the service and we will be using them again.

Hope this helps,

Another vote for Deckerts! Have used them 3 times and will be using them again in October!

Thank you! That sound very reasonable and so easy. This will make it more fun for her....and me.

My dad is DISabled, so I was wondering about this too. Would love to take him with his granddaughter someday soon. Thanks for the info!

so glad to have this information as well as I am in the process of convincing my mom this might be a great way for her to travel through the parks everyday.

A question... how does one go about charging this things? Do you need a special high voltage outlet or does it just take a regular wall outlet? We're staying at GCH and I've read where a lot of people find the rooms to be quite smaller than the other hotels. I've wondering how much room a scooter will take up in the room during charging or is there someplace within the hotel that they will offer to charge the scooter for us?

Also, do they have a website?? I did a Google search for the name and I'm only getting results for the company listed for like Yellow Pages/DEX listing.

Thank you!

No special outlet needed, a regular wall outlet will work fine.

Depending on the room type and how many are in your party, space may be tight. On my recent trip I was in a 1-bedroom DVC unit with plenty of space for the ECV once I had pushed back some of the furniture. On a prior trip I was in a regular GCH room and the space was much tighter - it took a good bit of maneuvering to get the ECV in and turned around so that I did not have to back it all the way out when leaving the room.

I do recall occasionally seeing ECV's parked in the hotel hallways, plugged into an outlet to recharge. But I'm not sure if there are outlets (and space to park the ECV) close to every room. You might want to give the hotel a call to double check. As far as I know, the hotel does not offer the service/space to park and charge ECV's (the paperwork I got from Deckert's when they dropped off the ECV even mentioned this.)

No website that I could find either. But like many others who have posted in this thread, I've used Deckert's multiple times and have been very happy with their service.

When DH and I stayed at the DLH we both rented ECV's and at night we'd leave them with bell services and they plugged them in and recharged them over night for us.

When DH and I stayed at the GCH in January the hotel told us to just park them right outside our door where an outlet was available. We probably could have fit one inside the room but it was simpler to just park them both in the hall so we didn't have to maneuver them in a tight space. The CM at the desk said no one has stolen an ECV from the hallway in all the years the hotel has been open.

This is great to know. I was a little worried while reading about one being taken but are keys not needed to start the scooters? Or, just to be on the really safe side, should I consider bring something like a bike lock?

Also, can I ask how you found getting around the park in one of these? I think this is the major concern with regards to my mom. My mom was in a car accident in 1983 and has dealt with major back issues since (including 5 surgeries). She's a real trooper but I'm thinking the use of a scooter would really help her out and I don't want her to return home is such horrendous pain from all of this walking. I think she's worried that she'll run into people or that it will be so crowded that it will make it impossible to move around with ease. And then there is the whole question on how to handle rides. Do you simply park it somewhere and then stand in line. My mom would be more than able to do that but I'm not sure if there is scooter parking like there is the stroller parking.

Thank you.

One more question with regards to using this company.... how far in advance to you need to reserve one. We're at the 2-week mark, are we to late??

In my experience, it isn't too hard to get around, but you really have to watch out for other people especially around parade, Fantasmic, fireworks, WOC times! Others are not paying attention at all and you can very easily ending up crashing into someone. I am always on high alert in crowded areas.

The first time took a bit getting used to, but it becomes easier the more you use it. They will give you a yellow brochure at the turnstyles which will tell you how you enter for each ride. Make sure you use that! In DL, most of the time you will be heading to the exit to get on rides, not all but most. In DCA you wait in the regulr lines for most rides.
