Does anyone have a good idea or could share where they keep there GAC Card while in the parks.. My husband usually keeps in in his pocket but it gets wrinkled.. wet. on some rides ect we have to take it out at every ride b/c my sons Convaid Stroller is used as a wheelchair ... I looked today at a camping store. (EMS) to see if they had some type case to tie to his stroller but nothing.. any suggestions?

There was a thread about this a while back (probably about a year ago now), where somebody said they use those plastic ID pouches. If you get one of those plastic holders, intended to hold a name tag, and wear that on a lanyard or clipped to a pocket, it should stay in better condition.

I'll see if I can track down that thread! :thumbsup2

EDIT: Found it! Here's the thread I was thinking of:

Hope this helps!

You can get a special strip at Guest Relations similar to an airline luggage tag but which will not come apart which allows use of a stroller as a wheelchair. As it it weatherproof and cannot be removed from a stroller handle without its being destroyed you can leave this attached to the stroller handle.

I would not want to keep an actual GAC attached to a stroller because if you park the stroller the GAC could manage to walk off by itself. The "Stroller as Wheelchair" tag cannot be removed and reused.

As far as the GAC itself in a waterproof pouch, it would fit in a zip-loc sandwich bag and waterproof that way.

I just put mine in the plastic "ID" case that I bought with my lanyard at Disney. Same one I keep my park tickets, room key etc.. It fits if you fold it in half. Many times I didn't even need to take it out, I just showed it to the CM through the plastic. Fold it so the important wording is on the outside.

My son is Autistic and now 15. What we have done is go to walmart where they have the jewlery. They have plastic lanyards that i think Sue mentioned about .Anyways here is what i did. I made up a card that said he is Autistic and our cell phone numbers. I also put grams phone number also just in case our cell's died out or whatever. the lanyards i have gotten have break away velcro on them so no worries there. When i went to a park i had him wear the lanyard. Whe i got the GAC i put it inside the lanyard with the other card also . This way it was sealed up in the plastic. it didnt get wet or crinkled up . it was also a way if he got lost that they could contact us quickly. He never got lost TG . Also wth him wearing the card cast members helped us out a great deal more instead of hidint the fact he was handicapped. I hope this helps and gives you an idea what to do. Also take a pic of your son before you enter into the parks. that way if he gets lost you will know what he is wearing etc by just looking at the pics :)

Have you seen the autism lanyards? I'm going to bring one for our GAC, our local autism chapter sells them, they have a puzzle piece pattern :thumbsup2

When you get your GAC card they can give you the bright red sticky tag that was mentioned previously. You still need a GAC card but most CM's don't ask for it when the see the "stroller as a wheelchair" tag. We used one this past week on a regular Graco stroller. There were no problems.

No i havent seen the Autism lanyard. Will go and take a peek :) thanks for the info!!

I keep it in the front zip pocket of my bag and take it out when we get to a ride if I need it- Bren uses a convaid at disney- all the walking would be awful for him. When he was little we used the stoller as a wheelchair- we could not hold him all the time waiting in line and carrying our bags of tricks too. The cast members wave us to the appropriate line- ask if he can transfer-or need any other accomodations- some ask to see the pass
I am always amazed at how kind they are- they make us feel like normal- the parades are awesome- he can see up close -waiting is a lot easier for him as he has gotten older- he is happy to have a snack and people watch
