Where to head for a shady spot at Typhoon Lagoon ?

Hi all -

We will be leaving in a few days and are thinking about trying Typhoon Lagoon for the first time. Can anyone recommend a nice shady spot that we can head to at park opening ? We are a family of four ... I spend more time in the shade than in the water as I have pastey white skin and the sun and I do not get along !!

I'm not very familiar with TL but was there for a short stint last week.

Back by the little kids area there's quite a bit of foilage and some coverage sheltered areas with picnic tables.

I'm sure you'll have to get there early to obtain these spots.

I have an awesome spot for you if you are going right at the opening of the park. We were just there the first week of June and I planned my spots for the water parks for a solid week. I asked the same question here on the dis and received excellent advice.

The spot is to the right of the wave pool towards the rear of the wave pool. When the rope drops just find the wave pool and walk towards the right of it. There is a little house type thing where the pumps to the wave pool are housed and it is right across from those. There is a covered pavilian and a few lounge chairs under it. It overlooks the lazy river and there is lots of foliage. It is also right beside the tunnel to the other side of the park so you have great access to everything. We took our lunch and had our own little oasis all day. Everyone who walked by kept commenting on what a great spot we had. You can map it out on the disneyworld.com site if you go to maps and then click on typhoon lagoon and zoom in on it. It was great!!!! Enjoy!!!

If you don't get there at park opening you will have a hard time finding chairs at all........much less shade.

Just got back from a few weeks gone on vacation and PM to you yesterday - too late I see - but so glad you found it !

That's the one and YES EVERYONE who walks by is jealous. We have had that spot several times over the years.

Hopperfan--Thank you sooooo much!!! I havent checked my pm's but we didn't have any trouble finding the spot. It seemed that noone really knew about it so it wasn't too hard to get. Thank you again for your help! We had a great time!!!! We also were able to find a great spot at BB.
