Where to head first?

Only two days to go.......

We will hopefully get to the park as soon as it opens on our first proper day and have been looking at the park itself.

As first timers where should we head first? we have two children 7 and 4 so are thinking fantasy land or should we get fast pass tickets for other rides first then head there.
Want to make the most of the time we have but no idea where to start!

Got everything else planned except what to actually do in the park!

I really depends what rides you want to go on.

If you wanna go on some thrill rides after your kids have been to fantasyland get some fastpasses for Space Mountain and/or Star Tours. If you want more family side rides goto Frontierland and get a fastpass for BTM and ride Phantom Manor.

I would go into Fantasyland (and get FPs for Peter Pan)

Since quite some people will already be IN Fantasyland by the time the park opens, lines will already have formed, and the Peter Pan line is always insane!!!

I'd agree with Sandra, grab some fastpasses for Peter Pan and go ride those with shorter queues in Fantasyland, it's surprising how quickly the time goes when the park is busy and you're having to queue for everything. The one thing I wouldn't do is start running from land to land trying to cram in as much as possible.
I find it's much better to have some sort of plan and if you've any park restaurants booked work around those. For example when we were booked for lunch at the Lucky Nugget we arranged the morning around that, so into Frontierland to get fastpasses for BTM, ride PM, and the Riverboats inbetween onto BTM -lunch and then over to Adventureland for POTC etc.
We wasted so much time on our first visit rushing from land to land and of course the kids get tired, my youngest was just turning 5 the first time and his legs got very tired and achy.
If you want to get faspasses for rides in a different land remember only one of you needs to go and get them as long as they have all 4 tickets and for the Lion King show only one needs to queue for tickets so the rest of you can go and ride instead of hanging about.
With 5 nights you'll have more than enough time to fit it all in - have fun

What kind of tickets did you get? If not any go for annual passes. It pays itself back once you stay 3 days (20% discount on 1 mail per ticket per family, 20% discount for 1 day per AP on merchandise)

Also with the dream (annual) pass you can enter the park 1 hour before others, head to Fantasyland and do some rides before the park opens to the general public. No fastpasses needed and you can do Peter Pan a couple of times, sometimes you can even stay seated

hi, depending on what time you arrive try to see the parade the first day you get there then on other days you can go on rides in fantasyland while the parade is on, the queues will be shorter.

Thanks all, think we will head for fantasyland first then go to discovery land. Get fast passes for the rides we can and build our day round that. Don't want to rush about trying to "see" it all in one day, as we will have time to go to the other lands on other days.
We plan to see the parade on the Thursday our first proper day then the next day go to the studio but return to Disney Park just before the parade and do some rides then, hopefully it will be a little less busy!

One questions with dream passports? the access to fantasyland 1 hour before official opening? Do you have to be staying at an on site hotel. (As we didn't think it was worth getting the children dream passes as we thought that you have to be staying on site to be able to do this?)

Have a great time. We tend to head to Fantasyland early one day and Frontierland another as these are the lands that our troops enjoy the most.

No, you don't. We stayed at the Explorers and got in early with our Dream passes. It might be worth considering getting them for your children as well when you weigh up the 20% restaurant and shopping vouchers you will get with each Dream pass, it means another two cheaper meals plus another two days of discount shopping!

My other thought would be to get a fast pass for buzz light year this ride was packed all day every day whilst we were there and on friday the fastpasses were all gone by 12.00.
It is a really great ride and we went on it several times. The themeing is great even in the waiting areas and you want to go back to better yur score. I think DLRP have a winner here.

FIRST: check the board at the end of Main Street for information about ride closings. We didn't even notice the thing, or we would have seen that Autopia was closing several hours before the park closed. By the time we made it to Tomorrowland, er, Discoveryland, the lines were closed off, and my kids got to watch other kids go on the ride, while they could not.
