I know there was a great thread about this awhile ago, and I can't find it. Could someone please tell me where the nearest medical centers/ hospitals in the area if we need them. We were there a few years ago and my DD got a terrible ear infection. Luckily we were leaving that day, but if we hadn't I wondered what we would have done. Thanks in advance.:)

we were at Disney in January and my 18 month old got very sick, couldnt keep anything down not even water, so we called the front desk and they told us Florida hospital at Celebration was the closest ER, so off we went in a cab(from ASM) it cost $18 to get there and $14 back, we did spend about 7 hours there but they had her hooked up to an IV for over half that time so that couldnt be helped. they also have a in room doctor service, but it is much more money. but it's all in what you are able to pay.

We went to Celebration Hospital while we were at WDW last time my dd had a kidney infection, we were staying at FW and they offered to take us but we had our truck.

This hospital takes all kinds of insurance and it didn't cost me a dime ! :thumbsup2

We always go to one of the Centra Care Centers. There is one on 192, not from from the Sheburne Entrance to WDW, near AKL.

Way back when, 10 years ago, they had vans that would pick you up and take you to the Centra Care Centers, not sure if they still do this though. The vans were through Centra Care, not Disney. They picked us up at Universal when DD was really sick.

We visited a pediatric after hours clinic this past February with our 4 month old son who turned out to have an ear infection. It was about 20 minutes away from the grounds, we were in and out in 30 minutes, visited the 24 hour CVS down the street for his prescription and were back at the hotel within an hour and a half. Ask at the front desk of your resort if you need one.

Yep ... my then 5 year old son came down with a nasty case of Pink-eye while at Disney several years ago. We were staying at the Contemporary and he looked so ragged that one of the bellmen talked a departing (empty) Mears van into hauling us to the Centra on 192 for free. They took excellent care of him, but it did put a dent in the vacation since he pretty much couldn't stand to be in direct sunlight for four or five days.

The Centra Care van still comes because they offered to come DH on our last trip..lol He had a HORRIBLE ear infection and actually loss hearing in his right ear there. We had our car though and yes they take most insurances.

we had to go to the fire dept twice. we went in 05 and 07, both times our ds had a terrible asthma attack and we were staying at the caribbean beach and it's right across the street. they gave him a neb and that was all he needed in 05, but in 07 the neb held us until we could get to the after hours pedi emergency room. worked out wonderful for us. they were great to us. the place was packed that day so we pretty much spent the day there, but he was much better after they gave us new neb medicine. i took the business card and laminated it and put it in our suitcase, so i'll forever have it with us if we need it again. (hope not to!)

I had read somewhere about a service that will send a Dr. to your hotel. I don't remember exactly where I read it, but if you need to, the front desk may be able to give you some information. If I come across where I found this info out I will be sure to post it.

Leaving the DTD resorts exit and turn left. There was a emergency care facility on the left at the next light. They were well staffed and very clean. We were in and out in about an hour and a half when my son came down with step throat last July. Almost every kid in there seemed to have strep throat. P.S. DON'T let your child drink from the water fountains!!

We were in Epcot when my DD (then 1) woke up her stroller wheezing. It was the scariest sound I've ever heard...we RAN to the First Aid Center there (they have nurses there) & they called one of the Immediate Med Centers (could have been a Centra Care) and they sent a van w/ a carseat that took us there for no charge. They would have taken us back, too, but my family met us there...we had our rented car at the hotel. She ended up w/ Croupe.

Same trip (day one), we ended up having to call 911 to take my mom, by ambulance, to the Celebration Hospital ER for severe dehydration...we all caught something on the plane, but she was REALLY bad...We were there several hours, but everyone was really nice. Thank God everything worked out ok....by the end of the trip we were all healthy. :-)

Two emergencies in one trip! Two different places....Look up Med Centers in the hotel phone book when you get there just so you have an idea, God forbid you need them.
