Hi there folks!

Just curious which restaurants people go to on New Year's Eve? DH and I just decided that in Dec 2009 we will be taking the kids to WDW for a surprise Christmas gift (we would leave 12/26), so I am just a little curious what people do for dinner on NYE. :santa:

Thanks bunches!!:flower3:

We're going the go to the Hollywood Brown Derby and are planning to ring in the New Year at MGM (Disney Hollywood Studios, can't get used to that), I am hoping that the park will not be as crowded as the others.

We love to go to Epcot on NYE. One year we had reservations at Rose and Crown and ate around 7:00. We were able to get a table outside and watched the first IllumiNations of the evening. You are not guaranteed an outside seat when you make reservations but this is a great place to watch the show. We did counter service for lunch that day and waited close to an hour for food at the CS Mexican pavilion.

I have reservations at the carnation pavilion. There is an all u can eat buffet and live entertainment as well as a dance after the food. It'll be a great way to kill time before the best new years fireworks in the world:wizard: :dance3:

I've never seen it offered before so it might be new. They just announced it a couple weeks ago for this year, so if you're looking into the future, keep an eye on it.

Otherwise I'd second the idea of the Rose and Crown.

We have reservations this year at Rose & Crown at around 9:15. Do you think we'll be able to stay to see the fireworks at midnight if we get a table outside, or do you think they will kick us out?

Thanks!

We have reservations at 7:40pm at Boma. We'll be spending the day at Animal Kingdom, then going over to Boma for dinner and back to our hotel (POR) for a fairly quiet New Year's. We don't want to be anywhere near the crowds in the parks.

If you prefer to not go anywhere near the parks and you plan on going to Disney again during NYE, I would highly recommend staying at Saratoga Springs. We were able to walk to the lake and were so close to the Pleasure Island fireworks that the debris fell at our feet. And then all we had to do was walk back to our room. It was wonderful.

We plan on eating at the Turf Club or Kona Cafe that night.

This is what I am thinking. AK for the day then Boma's or maybe even Jiko's. OR maybe heading over to MGM, then Brown Derby, like OP suggested. Our trip is still about 2 years away so I have a while to decide, but I started planning my January 2009 trip one year ago already :rotfl:

So before you know it, I'll be having to make my ADR's :)

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas gang!! :goodvibes

We're at Mama Melrose's this year. We have also eaten at Teppanyaki (now Teppan Edo), Tony's and Rose and Crown. I think I liked the Japanese restaurant the best. Make sure that you have reservations at a time where you can watch the 9:30 IllumiNations from the balcony.

I've never heard of the Carnation Pavilion at WDW although Disneyland does have a restaurant with a similar name. Do you know where it is at WDW?

We've only spent two NYEs at WDW and both times enjoyed Hoop dee Doo then returned to our resorts to watch the fireworks. We didn't want to brave the crowds at the parks.

Happy planning!
