my 21st birthday is in october and 2 weeks later, i get a long weekend off from school. i was originally thinking of going to las vegas, but i don't think i'd actually really do anything that my friends want to do, like go to clubs, so i don't think it's worth flying out there for 4 nights. i would prefer that this not cost too too much, so that's why i'm posting it on the budget board. i'm not sure how much $$ i'll get for my birthday or what i'll have left from my internship this summer.

here is what i came up with so far:
- las vegas
- disney for MNSSHP only (no park tickets, party once or twice)
- home lol

or if we don't go anywhere, what should we do? it'll be dbf and i, maybe one other friend.

My daughter turns 21 tomorrow. She and he friends will be in Atlantic City this coming weekend. Boardwalk, beaches, outlet shopping and restaurants in addition to the casinos and bars. All within easy driving distance.

I went to Vegas for my 21st birthday and for my 30th birthday and can recommend a few things that are super fun and not clubby. There is a super fun Murder Mystery Dinner, we did a night time helicopter ride over over vegas, a ATV tour in El Dorado canyon with dinner and gold mine tour. There are Roller coasters and such at Circus Circus, New York New York and the Stratosphere. SHOPPING!! There is a aquarium at MGM and the water/light show at Bellagio. Some of the best food can be found in vegas (i am partial to Delmonico Steak House at New York New York. We did the Hoover Damn Tour and Lake Mead Cruise. Lots and lots of none gambling non clubbing fun :)

Yeah, if you can drive to Atlantic City I would do that. Or just get your closest friends together, get a hotel, have a few drinks if so inclined, or do a girls spa day?

I was in Las Vegas when I was 21 and not a club hopping person. There is so much to see and do that you will be exhausted after sightseeing!
Are your friends willing to pay to fly there for your birthday? If not, I second AC. That way your friends can go to!

i always forget that there's a ton to do in vegas. my friends are willing to pay to go, but i actually only really want to go anywhere with dbf lol! but vegas might be good in that case because then everyone can go together, but we can stay in separate rooms and do what we want and then meet up for meals and things

i agree that AC is a good idea. i hadn't thought of that. i'll have to check the weather for october.

Well, I spent my 21st birthday at WDW and had a blast! Not sure if its something your dbf or friends would enjoy but you could do lots of things on Disney property without buying tickets. The MNSSHP would be fun and you could get a birthday button so everyone will "fuss" over you.

Then there is Pleasure Island area -- which is fun to walk around and soak in the atmosphere -- no clubbing necessary but the Adventurer's Club isn't your typical experience.

Or you could mark the occaision by doing a "monorail drink tour". Visit the various bar/restaurants and have a tour. Or if you did want to pay for one day's park admission= EPCOT will have the food and wine festival so the world is literally open to your wine/beer tasting pleasure.

Not saying that's the only way to celebrate being 21 nor is getting drunk necessary -- just that's the standard "I'm finally legal" thing to do.
