Where to get "normal" food in Epcot?

I was just looking at the dinner menus for everywhere in Epcot. We'll just want a simple meal that evening...burgers, sandwhiches, steak, chicken...you know, nothing fancy. It seems like the only place I found is the electric umbrella. Is this the case? Or did I miss something? Is there a sit down restaurant that does simple food? The girls are 12 and are too old for the kids menus and way to picky to eat something off those fancy adult menus.....I'm not sure where we'll eat. When does the food court in the land reopen? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Not sure when the Land food court reopens, but a couple other places you might try are the Rose and Crown take out window for fish and chips and there is a pizza wagon over towards Test Track and Mission: Space.

It's not sit down (thought there is a lot of tables both inside and out) but the American Pavilion has a counter service with "American" food :lol

It's not great, but it's not bad. I love the elephant ears for dessert.

I'd recomend the American Pavilion restaurant (it is enclosed, with nice tables and chairs, although it is a counter service spot)
Or try the Rose and Crowne Pub in the UK section of Epcot. It has closer to 'normal'-fish and chips, etc. Or get a steak in LeCellier in Canada, that is pretty non-ethnic, I think! :wave2:

Walk through the International Gateway. ESPN, Yacht Club Gallery and even Beaches and Cream are a short walk.

I'd go with the American Pavillion but it sounded like you're looking for table service.

Hi there.

I am the worlds most boring eater.

I hate gourmet. If I can't pronounce it or identify it, I won't eat it. Give me a burger and fries and a coke and I'm happy.

My favorite places to eat in Epcot are :

Biergarten. Mmmm.... Yay for rotiserrie chicken!
Marakesh...kind of spicy chicken on a stick. You can't beat that.
Rose and Crown...fish and chips, roast beef and other normal stuff
Le Cellier...steak, plain and simple

Alfredos has pasta that is pretty normal.

Japan also looks like it has some fairly normal stuff on the menu.
I have no interest in China (or Mexico)...and Norway and France scare me.

You can also get relatively normal food at The Land if it's open. It's served family style and I recall fried chicken.

Check out http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm for menus...

I love to see how people's opinions differ. I am not a picky eater--I'll try most anything. I just didn't care for Biergarten, and my DD and her friend (both age 12) absolutely despised it. DD loved her hamburger at Chefs de France, and loves the food at LeCellier--it sounds fancy, but really isn't. For example, DD's friend didn't want to try anything there, because it sounded fancy. We recommended the chicken--it was a roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. other than that, you may want to go out to the beach club/boardwalk area.

My girls are 21 and 25 and aren't too old to sometimes order from the kids' menu at WDW!!! :)

If you're concerned that they "can't" order from the childrens' menu because they're too old, that's not the case at most all WDW restaurants. The restaurants are very accomodating.

for sit down... how 'bout living seas restaurant (coral reef?)... they have very basic foods if i remember correctly...

garden grill is also "basic" food which is served family style and one of the best character meals ever (such a laid back atmosphere)... last time we were there it was sliced steak, fried catfish, roasted chicken, oven roasted potatoes, mixed steamed veggies, ranch salad, great bread, and chicken fingers and mac/cheese for the most discriminating palates! dessert was either cups of mud or strawberry shortcake... all delicious but nothing i could not pronounce! LOL! :flower:

Not anymore. :( Now it's all fancy, exotic seafood.

Le Cellier has steak and pototos... can't get any less "wierd" than that. Also, Garden Grill has a great menu for picky eaters, if you are going after July 7th.

I second the idea of leaving Epcot and walking over to Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club. The burgers there are great!

Ditto! ;)

We are fairly plain eaters and our kids are just picky as they come. When we want a sit down meal for lunch on our Epcot day, we like to take a quick walk to the Boardwalk(ESPN is yummy & fun). If we are looking for counter service, Liberty Inn in America is it.

My wife is an extremely picky eater as is my son, and they always say the just want plain food. However, they always want to go to Rose & Crown (my wife gets the roasted chicken or fish and chips, and my son gets the pasta off of the kids menu) and they like to eat at the American Counter restaraunt (burgers and grilled chicken).

They both hated Coral Reef and Italy (and they both love italian food).

I have found what one person likes differs greatly from another person.

Actually, we'll probably want counter service. We'll have a sit-down lunch in MK and at some point during the day we'll hop to Epcot. I'm making a PS for our lunch but for dinner we'll just "wing-it". I wanted either counter service(all I found was Electric Umbrella, is that any good?) Or a sit-down place we could just drop in at whenever we're hungry. I don't want a PS for lunch and dinner on the same day!

Actually, I've been doing that! That's how I discovered how fancy all the food is and I know that isn't what we'll be looking for.

Thanks for all the input! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the food court in the land will be open by then(early June) or else we'll try the Electric Umbrella.....or who knows...maybe we'll just snack our way around epcot and not even eat a meal. Just wanted to get my ducks in a row so I'm prepared!

I have always had a taste for very, very, (did I mention very :rotfl: ) plain food. Simple chicken of fish is perfect for me, and I've never had a problem anywhere, at least not in Japan, the UK, or any of the non-WS restaurants there, having a normal meal. Just look at their normal selections that seem a bit crazy and ask to have a simple chicken sandwhich without all of the extra stuff on it, like the glazes, dressings, etc. They are very accomodating in WDW.

I would second the quick walk up to Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club...if you're tired take the boat. Burgers, onion rings, and great desserts. Nice break. If they are really busy, you can get it take out or similar items at Hurricane Hannas right there too. :cloud9:

Liberty Inn (America, WS) has items like cheesburgers, fries, hot dogs, turkey sandwich, chicken strips and apple cobbler. Sounds "normal" to me.

I've never had a problem walking in without a PS to Biergarten, Marrakesh or Le Cellier, even when I could not get a PS. If you go at off times, you should not have a problem at most places.
