I was planning to buy my kiddo the giant rice krispie mickey head from Goofys Candy Co when suddenly today he decides he doesnt like rice krispie treats anymore. Good thing I hadn't shelled out the $50 yet.

Anyway, I need to find some form of a birthday cake. We are staying at Bonnet Creek so Im thinking it would be easier to get something outside the parks. Can you get a mickey face or something outside the parks anywhere? Any suggestions?

Are you looking for something outside of a park or outside of Disney altogether? If you're just looking for outside a park, you can get a cake from Boardwalk Bakery. If you want offsite, I believe Goodings at Crossroads does cakes and you can also try Walmart or Winn Dixie.

Hmmm I can't see that Mickey cake, but maybe because I'm on my cell. I'll look tonight.

It doesn't have to be out of Disney all together, just something not a total pita to get too.

The Mickey cake has Mickey surfing & Minnie lying on the beach. There's also a pull apart (cupcake) cake with a similar design. Those are under Preschool Favorites in the decorated cakes. The Cars, Toy Story, & Pirates cakes are under Kids Favorites.

If price is a consideration, you will get much more bang for your buck at Publix than on WDW property. Their cakes are much better than the one we ordered our DS from Disney a couple years ago. There really was no comparison. We've only ordered one from Disney though. We may have just been unlucky. As far as I know, Boardwalk Bakery is the only place on WDW property to order a cake for pick up. Babycakes in DTD may have them also, but I'm not really familiar with what they offer. Goodings is very close to DTD. I've heard their cakes are more expensive & aren't nearly as good as Publix, but I haven't gotten one there myself. I have gotten cakes from Walmart, Winn Dixie & Sams Club. Publix cakes are much better, IMO.

Another option would be to call the hotel to see if they make cakes for guests. We stayed at Hilton Bonnet Creek last weekend. I considered ordering a cake for my DH's birthday, but we planned so last minute that I ran out of time. They do have delicious baked goods. I don't know which Bonnet Creek property you are staying at, but it would be easy to get from any of them to the others, if you find one that will make a cake for you.

Thanks, we'll be staying at Wyndham. Im not too into the whole surfer thing, too bad it won't let you customize.

What's Babycakes? I have to go to DTD anyway

Try doing a search on the cake chatter thread. THere are a few people that rely on non-Disney bakeries in the Orlando area for their cakes. I know Sprinkles in Winter Park is one of the ones that's come up in some posts. THere may be one or two others out there.

We've tried many of their cakes, but haven't tried this one. Now, I need to come up with a reason to order a cake. :rolleyes1 All their birthday & decadent cakes are delicious.

I celebrated my birthday three weeks early one year so I could get this cake from Publix while we were at OKW.
