Where to fly in?

We have to drive back to San Diego after our three days at Disneyland because we are catching a cruise from there. However, I work for an airline, so we can fly in to Orange County, LAX, or San Diego. The best flight times are at LAX, but I understand Orange County is much closer?

And, any advise on car rental companies?

Orange county would be the closest to the park. If you fly into LAX its going to take about an hour to get to the park. If you fly into SNA, you're less then 15 miles from the park!

I've used Alamo the last couple times. I've gotten great rates from the "hot deals". Do any of the companies offer discounts for airline employees? If you fly into LAX you'll have to take a shuttle to the car rental lots- all of them, there are NONE on site. You'll want to factor that into your time as well. SNA has all the major car companies right at the airport. We usually send one person to get the bags and one to get the car. We get done about the same time.

I usually get the best rates from Alamo as well. You can use their hot deals and also save quite a bit by pre-paying. It is only $5 cancel if you find a much better deal somewhere else.

Another vote for SNA! It's so much closer!!! We use Hertz almost every vacation, we really like them. Personally, I think they are all pretty much the same.

We have flown into Long Beach and Orange Co. (SNA) and both have been great. They are about the same distance from Disneyland just in the opposite direction of it. We loved Long Beach - it was very small and therefore easy to navigate. We chose LB over SNA because it was cheaper otherwise SNA would probably be our first choice, LB our second.
