Where to find quiet spot to rest in Parks?

We plan to be at all four Parks at opening time and staying until they close on Dec. 22, Magic Kingdom, Dec. 23, we will be at Animal Kingdom, Dec. 24, at Epcot, Dec. 25, MGM and Dec. 31, New Years Eve at MK. Does anyone know where Hubby & I could find a quite out of the way spot to just relax and rest for a bit through out the long days? A cup of coffee or cold drink would be a big plus. :thumbsup2 We have all of our tickets and ADR's, but just thought knowing where to take some quiet rest breaks would be a good idea.

At MK we duck in the Hall of Presidents for a quick nap (Sorry! But it's dark, cool, and never full so we aren't depriving anyone of seats) and also we grab a cold drink and go sit for a while at the theatre in tomorrowland, although that lacks good scenery. At AK, we sit along the water behind Flame Tree, or go have a drink at the bar in Africa and people-watch. We love the atmosphere there. In Epcot, we like to sit in the little gardens in the UK or nap (again, sorry, but it's the same situation as HOP!) in American Adventure. We haven't found a good spot yet at MGM as we usually don't stay there long enough to need a rest.

During Christmas Week - ugh... Good Luck! ;) It is going to be quite busy, I am not sure you will find a quite spot. However, I noticed that their are some places in Magic Kingdom where I settle for a quick nap. Two of those places are COP and TTA. On both attractions you are allowed to keep riding; therefore, you can get a good nap in there.

In the MK there is a little known rose garden. Look for it on the map. It is really pretty and quiet. At epcot I would sit in the back of England. You might catch a band which isn't quiet but is fun. At mgm, go very very early for beauty and the beast. The show is really fun too. At ak, try a hidden table at tusker or a bench on one of the animal paths. We love going to the contemporary outer rim and watching the boats while we sip drinks. Wl is another quiet but close spot.

We take lots of breaks throughout the day. Some of our favorites:

Animal Kingdom - The Flame Tree BBQ seating area although that might be a bit crowded during that week. Tusker House has seating behind the Dawa Bar which is nice. Dawa Bar itself probably won't have any seating available since it's easy to see for families to take a break.

MGM - there's a bar on the side of the Flatbread Grill that has tables and chairs.

Magic Kingdom - the old Swan boat area that's to the right of the castle as you come up Main Street. During that time, you aren't going to find that many quiet places at Magic Kingdom.

Epcot - you can try the Lotus Blossom Cafe seating, the seating at the African Outpost. I like the idea of the area in the United Kingdom back where The British Invasion plays. If they are not playing, that is. I believe your day at Epcot is a Sunday and I would suggest the Off Kilter seating area but they usually play on Sundays. The waiting area at the China movie. People come in and out of there all the time so you don't need to see the movie. The seating area at the Liberty Inn usually has tables available.

Think outside Epcot and the seating area at the Boardwalk along Crescent Lake. You might be able to get a rocker at the Boardwalk. There also are rockers outside on the porch of the Yacht Club.

At Epcot, I find the American Adventure, Spaceship Earth, and Ellen's Energy Adventure quiet & dark enough to recharge my batteries.

Here's a Magic Kingdom trip from allearsnet.com, "On the side of the Hall of Presidents' building, across from the Liberty Bell, you'll spy two old-fashioned rocking chairs on a small brick porch. They're not just props -- you really can rock away a few minutes (or hours) from this comfy spot. Stop at Sleepy Hollow for some caramel corn or an ice cream sandwich, and bring your treats back to the chairs for savoring as you people-watch from this out-of-the-way spot."

MK- Across from the Dole Whip Counter there are some nice benches and I always like to sit there and have a refreshing Dole Whip and people watch.

Epcot- The World Showcase has a lot of spots to sit and relax.

Relax in Mexico and have cold beer. Relax in Norway and have cold beer, repeat this until you are very relaxed. If you make it to England, you may want to consider canceling any ADR's.

OOH!! OOH!! You just reminded me of another one!!! On our trip last month we went to Tom Sawyer Island for the first time. It started to sprinkle just as we got to the island, and after a bit it started to rain pretty hard. The rain coincided with our reaching Aunt Polly's, so we sat on the covered porch across from the Liberty Belle and rocked and watched all the people on the "Mainland" run for cover! It was a great spot; peaceful and quiet and the rocking chairs were so relaxing!

I second Aunt Polly's at the MK. We used to go over for lunch because it was one of the places where our kids were sure to eat. I don't think the food is the same anymore and although the rafts can be PACKED getting over there, there really are TONS of little quiet spots on Tom Sawyer's Island.

Also in MK... I'm not sure if I can describe this but there is an area that is sort of behind LTT. I believe it is a designated smoking area but if you luck out and no one is smoking, it is very quiet and shady and often some characters will appear in this area with no crowds.

I also second the gardens and maze in England. There is also a spot back in France behind the perfume store. I know I'm not very good at giving directions - we usually just happen upon these quiet areas!!!

Another suggestions for AK is Rafiki's Conservation Station. The train ride there is relaxing and there usually aren't many people back in that area from my experience. Lots of out of the way seating to find a quiet spot.

I can't think of any spots in MGM right now!!! I guess we're in the same group as someone else who said that we usually don't spend the whole day there to worry about resting and breaks! And also, so many of the attractions are shows like the Motor Car show or Indiana Jones where you are sitting for a fairly long period of time already.

Have a great time! We may see you in one of those MK spots on NYE as we'll be in for the long haul that day also!!! Have a wonderful trip and a Merry Christmas!

You could just sit on the train and relax for a couple trips around the MK
Also, you could try the same thing with the monorail, but this may actually not be too quiet, but it would provide with a place to sit

We like to sit in the Town Square Exposition Hall in MK. They have a nice porch and in the back they show vintage Disney movies.

Thank you all for your help. I am going to print this off and take it with me so I can look for all these spots. Normally we would not stay the entire day but due to the time of year we will be there we decided that in order to be sure we get into the parks we better plan to be there the whole day. Its is going to be a blast. Since there is just me and Hubby we can just take our own sweet time and enjoy everything. :santa: included.

If the weather is nice, one of my favorite spots to just sit and have a snack is at the outdoor seating area at Cosmic Ray's, in Tomorrowland at the MK. You are hanging out over the lagoon, with a view of the castle. Very relaxing! There's plenty of good eats inside, and bathrooms that aren't heavily used.

With a cup of coffee or a cold drink-upstairs at Columbia Harbor House or Pinochio's Village Haus. Few people know about the upstairs at either place, so it's very quiet. Upstairs at PVH there's also access to an outdoor patio, with tables and chairs. I don't know how quiet it is out there, but I haven't seen anyone out there. At Animal Kingdom, at Pizzafari, there's a nice little patio area
outside. For areas without food, but chairs and quiet-across from Tusker House, to the right as you look at the restrooms, there's a little courtyard. Also, across from Flights of Wonder, there's an area (I think it used to lead down to a dock) with tables and chairs. And my favorite resting spot in AK is on Discovery Island Trails. Across from Pizzafari, on the way from Discovery Island to Africa is the entrance to the paths. Sometimes Flik is there, sometimes there's an ice cream cart. Enter the trails there. Along the trails you'll see hardly any people but a couple benches to sit on. There's a passageway that goes behind a waterfall and although there's no bench in there, I've been known to hoist myself up and sit on the rocks for a few minutes.

Are you staying on-site? I go that time every year (and this is no exception) and I always take a mid-day break. I get too grumpy if I don't. We fill up on Fast Passes and do the attractions that we can with little to no wait. I think you'll be fine with a real break, even on NYE.

Just a little FYI- Pinocchio's upstairs may be blocked off if not crowded. They only open the upstairs if it is needed.

Movies are gone!

This is for the Magic Kingdom. The rose garden that is just in front and to the right of the castle, its close to the water and is covered. Also in the smoking area by the Plaza Restaurant that is by the water is pretty relaxing. In tomorrowland by where the old skyway station is. You go past the bathrooms and you can see the train tracks from there.

right outside of mission space where the public bathroom is there are benches under a roof by a pay phone. the benches go all along the wall and back down a flight of stairs.it is secluded and quiet. we had our twins nap there while we had a cup of coffee.

also in china-across from lotus blossum cafe there are benches under a little ledge where you can sit, have some tea and just people watch.happy snoozing
