We were on the AC Expressway last evening coming home from the shore when the traffic slowed down to a crawl then stopped. Several emergency vehicles passed us and we could see the flashing lights stopped a little way ahead of us. After about 10 minutes people started turning their cars off, then getting out and trying to see what was going on. A couple of helicopters came and went pretty quickly, more tow trucks and emergency vehicles arrived. After over an hour and a half one lane of the road was cleared and we were allowed to proceed. As we passed the accident scene, I could see what looked like an extremely wrecked car, it was dark by this time but what I could see was horrible. Just after the car were what looked like officers combing through the brush. I don't know what they could have been looking for but it was all very upsetting.
Since then I've been looking for news on it, Googled accidents, crashes, traffic on the Expressway, 295, NJ, also tried looking at NJ & Philly newspapers online and have found nothing. I was surprised that there weren't more helicopters there last night, given the length of time this major road was backed up for what looked like a horrific crash. I would have thought news copters would be there reporting the backup. Is there some website that would have this type of info? I'm hoping that no one was killed although from the look of that one car...
