Where to find low point contracts?

We are interested in low point contracts, just 3 of us. Everytime I see one offered it is gone by the time I request information. I am just begining to look so where might I look for a resale? :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

This is just a guess...but you might want to try clicking on the DVC Resales link at the top of this page.

Seriously...call TTS and tell them what you are looking for. They'll put you on a call list and you'll get a shot at contracts before they are public.

It seems to me that Disney has been very aggressively ROFRing small contracts. My guess is that they are just too much administrative overhead for Disney, so they snatch them up to get them out of the system. They recently ROFR'd a 50-point OKW contract at $80 -- which is well above the normal OKW price.

I did a search on google for dvc timeshares and then put those sites into my favorites and just kept checking each of them every couple of days. When I saw one I liked I sent an email to them saying I was interested. She called me right away and put a sale pending on it awaiting my deposit. It actually just got passed by ROFR today and now it is on it's way to the title company for closing. It took almost 2 weeks from when I called her to finding out it passed ROFR. We bought through Pat at The Timeshare Store....so far so good. Hoping the closing goes quick and we will be in the system with Disney so I can get those reservations made! Good luck to you.

I agree, there is no way you'll find one without being on the "lists" at the main DVC resellers. I think I only waited a few weeks before the sponsor of this board called with a great OKW contract for us. But, you also have to be prepared to "Jump" when they call b/c otherwise they'll just move down the list and you will lose it. It only took me about 1 second to say "YES"!

I am currently on a call list with Pat at TTS for a small contract. Worst case scenario is it doesn't come in before I need it and I bite the bullet and go through Disney.

I have this dilemma too but if you are already a DVC member adding on would be cheaper through Disney once you add in the closing costs associated with a reseller right? I saw a couple of contracts I was interested in thet were 30-50 points and the cost per point was $84 but closing costs are are $300-400 which boosts the per point cost to $94+. Why not go through Disney? Of course if you are not a DVC member yet I understand perfectly why you'd buy resale. That's how I got my feet wet in the DVC pond.

I did this same thing when I first started looking for resale contracts. I would recommend not going this route because you will find quite a few companies that are either not trustworthy, or not knowledgeable enough about DVC to be able to answer any of your questions. There are three "main" DVC resellers that many folks here on the DIS recommend. I would also recommend checking with all 3 of them and see what comes up. They will let you know when something new comes and you will usually get first chance before they advertise it to everyone else.

As Jim mentioned, many of these smaller contracts (less than 100) are getting ROFR'd with little regard to the price per point. So, if you are trying to get a contract in this range (and not already a DVC member) you may need to offer a bit more to get it to pass. Hopefully the agent would be able to help by checking to see which low point contracts they have submitted that have passed.

Good luck!

I have to admit I'm in the same boat. I just decided to add on to my contract and still exploring my options.
I've put my name on a few waiting lists, but was told they go within 15 mins, so you have to give them multiple contact numbers. I was also told for my site BCV, the price is anywhere from $85-$91/pt. Disney would be $92/pt with no closing costs, but they don't have anything in my use year and have a waiting list of 50+ people for small contracts.
Now that I've been reading the boards I'm not so sure I want to deal with a resale if the ROFR are so high with smaller contracts. I've heard you don't get your deposit back with a resale if the ROFR are claimed.
For me I put my name with Pat at the timeshareresale above and with ********e with ***********

Someone mentioned three recommended resale places by the dis board. can anyone list them?

You were told incorrectly about the deposit. If your contract gets ROFR'd you should get the full amount refunded. The reseller would be out $0 because they will still get their commission from the sale of that contract.

I can list 2 of the "big 3":
The Timeshare Store (DIS sponser) www.dvc-resales.com
A Timeshare Broker (Jaki Apetz) www.atimeshare.com

I can email you the 3rd.

we'll it only took one day! Just got a call from Pat at the TSS. Had a contract for the resort I wanted and the number of points.

I highly recomend being put on one of the lists if you want a smaller contract. You have to give enough contact info though. By the time I called her back she had 4 other people responding as well, and it only took me 10 minutes...

Congratz... now the grueling part of waiting to pass ROFR (shouldn't be a big problem).
