Where to eat?

This is my first post, and I need some help. We (myself, DH, DD9, DS7, and DD4) are going to Disney in January. YIPPEE!!! We are doing it on a very tight budget, but we do have the dining plan. we are going to MK on Tuesday, Epcot on Wednesday, riding the monorails, boats, etc on Thursday, and back to MK on Friday. No park hoppers.

I want to do LaCellier on Wednesday evening and WCC on Thursday evening, so I need someplace to eat on Tuesday and Friday. We will be sharing meals to have enough credits, but can't do a character meal because that takes 2 credits.

We are staying at POR. Historically MK closes at 7 at this time of year and nothing inside MK looks appealing to me. Where can we eat that is geographically reasonable to both MK and POR, preferably someplace fun.

Thanks!!!

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

Have you checked out this website?

http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm

It has all the menus for all the restaurants in the parks and resorts.

Also, if you poke around this restaurant board you will find lots of opinions on various restaurants!

Enjoy!

I would give Boma a very very strong recommendation if you are at all adventurous about food. I am not a big fruit and veggies guy but I had no meat at all at Boma, the salads and fruit and veggie dishes were so good. The soups were good enough to be the basis of a soup-only restaurant. I wish I could find a buffet like that where I live. And it's a bargain at $25. Beautiful restaurant, great service too. The way I once felt about Akershus I now feel even more strongly about Boma. Not to be missed.

Disney must put a ton of money into Animal Kingdom Lodge. They have all sorts of extras one doesn't find at other resorts and their chefs are really first class.

Unless I'm completely out to lunch (not out of the realm of possibility, either), the character meals are one TS credit apiece

I'm with you, Canuckdad. Character meals are counted just like a regular TS meal. I think TheMom should add Chef Mickey into her list.

I agree about Boma's --it is a buffet and all my very picky kids found food they liked. Most food for your buck and it was excellent. Love to look around at AKL also.

Just a thought, but maybe you could eat at the Boardwalk one night and then stroll around after dinner? We have never done this before, but we will have the dining plan too and one of the things I am looking forward to is trying out different restaurants at the different DW hotels.

Just to give you an idea:
Restaurants that we have ADR's for at different hotels:

1900 Park Fare - Grand Floridian

Kona Cafe at the Polynesian

Concourse Steak House at the Contemporary

Spoodles at the Boardwalk

Also, character meals are 1 TS per person so if your kids want to meet some of the characters, this shouldn't be a problem for you. 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian has the princesses etc.

We are staying at POR too and we always like to take the boat to Down Town Disney and grab a bite to eat there and then walk around to do some shopping etc. I know there are some restaurants at DTD that are participating in the dining plan so maybe you should check into that.

Hope this helps!
