Where to eat

Okay I am racking my brain trying to figure out where to eat someone help me, I have adrs at cape may for dinner and dinner at chef mickeys need two more dinner or lunch, I was thinkin of wc but I am wondering if it will be out of the way getting there from mk by boat or how long it would take, I was also thinking of Le cellar in epcot, but is it a kid friendly restraunt? my big problem is my son has austism and only eats very limited things, hot dogs are one but are not offered at most restraunts I do not want to pay a high price for something he is not going to touch. Any one with any suggestions I would really appreciate. Thanks

Have you checked the menu for Garden Grille? That is a VERY kid-friendly restaurant, a character meal, and is set up in a very private fashion (I'm not sure if your son has challenges with crowds or overstimulation, but GG is high-walled booths facing outward in rings, so he is unlikely to be distracted by other diners). The restaurant also rotates very slowly, so the environment changes over the meal as well.

If you find that one wouldn't work for you, while I haven't been to le cellier with a child, I've heard positive things. Hope that helps!

Unfortunately, avoiding high prices at WDW is a little like avoiding politicians in October -- it just cannot be done. I'd focus on finding the most kid-friendly experiences, and chalk up the cost concerns as a routine part of a Disney vacation. The most kid-friendly places we found were these:

- Liberty Tree Tavern - Our DN6 loved this place, and the character interactions, with the whole family, were the best of anywhere.

- Garden Grill - Another great character meal, with excellent staff and yummy food.

Other good character meals include Crystal Palace, and Chef Mickey's, though the latter is much too noisy and raucous.

- 50s Prime Time Cafe - This is really the most fun of any WDW restaurant, both for children and adults. It may or may not be the best choice for your son, though.

- Whispering Canyon - A close second to 50s Prime Time Cafe, but what is of special note is that they have a back room -- it's where we ended up getting seated. We didn't like it, because it was so far away from the "action" but that might be a great idea for you, so you can partake is as much of it as you wish to and pull back to your quieter area as you wish.

thanks for all your responses I think I may go with garden grill and whispering canyon, does anyone know how long the boat ride is from the magic kingdom to wc?, or would we do better to drive there?

The bus is actually the fastest way from MK to WL. The boat is a very nice change of pace, but if conserving time is the priority, take the bus. (Also, note that the boat doesn't operate in windy conditions.)

I haven't been yet but how about Concourse Steakhouse. They do have hot dogs on the kids menu. I've chosen it for my next trip because they have a kids menu to satisfy my picky kids and also my more adventurous one. AND...they have a Mickey cookie for dessert that comes with different colored frostings, Mickey sprinkles and paint brush for the kids to decorate themselves. I'm hoping that will keep the kids busy so the adults can actually relax during dessert.

I went to Garden Grill for the first time in May and really enjoyed it. The kid's dessert there is a decorate your own cupcake.

If your son likes hot dogs be sure to try Casey's counter service on Main St.
