We are not interested in doing a Grand Gathering Illuminations dinner or Safari dinner.

Anyone done a dinner for a large group?

If so, can you please tell me more about it? How you booked it? Is it a regular off the menu meal or pre-set per head?

What locations are options?

TIA

One place that I have seen them easily seat large groups is Rainforest Cafe.

I would say a buffet. I saw a huge family at Crystal Palace one morning.

Most places could accommodate you, but very few could put you at one table. We had 16 people and many ressies we were sitting at a few tables.

Last Sept we were at Crystal Palace when a large wedding party walked in. They were seated all over the place. One year we also saw a very large group seated at 'Ohanas. They were all seated in the main room and the restaurant had apparently pulled a bunch of tables into two long rows, right down the middle.

We had about thirty or forty people at Boma one evening. We made the first reservation, and were seated off the main dining area but near the food, at several tables. We ended up not being in that section alone, though - they were able to squeeze in more people :teeth:

I think there's a specific number for Group Dining, that doesn't obligate you to a Grand Gathering - call the regular dining number and ask.

First thought I had was Biergarten? in Epcot.

Oh and I always thought with Grand Gatherings(big groups) Could help with booking things like simple dinner options?

We were 26 at Chef Mickey's we all called and booked for the same time and we all had tables near each other. It was great :thumbsup2

We were a party of 11 2 yrs ago and it went pretty smoothly at ADR's. We were on the dining plan and had to make all ADR's through the group dining service.
We ate at Ohana, Le Cellier, Whispering Canyon, Crystal Palace, Coral Reef, and Chef Mickeys. I found the buffets to be the easiest with a large group because otherwise the size of the group adversely affected the service. At Ohana's our service was horrid! We normally do have good service there.
The servers, in their defense, were very busy as it was President's week.
But I would suggest the buffets to keep things less complicated.:thumbsup2

I'd call group dining and ask what their suggestions are, especially if you really aren't hip on doing a buffet. We had a group of 22 one time and we all wanted to eat at Cali Grill and they put us in a room right off the main dining room. We all got to eat off of the main menu and we got to sit together (as much as you can when the table is that long). We did have to coordinate through group dining though and not through the regular dining.

I belong to a group that will have a large dinner once a year for 40-60 people. We always select a buffet outside of the parks and have the dinner reservation for restaurant opening. We will contact the restaurant manager directly to make the reservation. We happen to require that each person pay in advance, to include tax and gratuity, and we round the price up to the next higher dollar for increased gratuity. We get one bill and pay with a check; anyone who wants alcoholic beverages will get a separate check for beverages which they will pay.

If you don't mind spending a bit of money -- and want a meal together than you'll truly remember, call California Grill and ask about booking the separate room where food & wine dinners are held. It is not the wine room. It is a separate room for private functions at the opposite end of the floor from the wine room.

It probably seats 60, but perhaps they would let you have it for a dinner for 30 people. It has an unbeatable view of the fireworks at MK. You could order off the menu, or perhaps you could arrange a set menu. I suspect there is a minimum charge plus a room rental fee.

Not cheap, I'm sure, but very, very memorable.

Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL has a small room off the main dining area that could accomodate your group. I would think that booking a reservation for 30 and requesting that area might work.

I took a group of dancers to Disney last June. We easily had a party of 30 (or more). We had breakfast reservations at Ohana's and they seated all of us together in the same area. We also somehow managed to all fit in the photo that they take before breakfast. It was a good one to do, because the kids could participate in the activities and they didn't get bored.

For our wedding dinner last april we took 20 to Narcoossee's. I booked it directly with the restaurant. They sat us at 2 tables for 10 right next to each other in the upper part of the restaurant (up a few steps). There they did a limited menu that was set at $65ppn with family style apps, soup or salad, entree (our choices were filet, chicken or salmon) and dessert. Everyone was very happy and we liked that we knew in advance what the bill would be before drinks. We did have to take the first or last seating there - we did the first to get to our Wishes cruise after.

Later that week we also did LeCellier. I booked this one thru group dining and they transfered me to the restaurant. There we had several tables along one wall and another large table right next to it. We all ordered off the regular menu and paid separately (probably 5 or 6 checks).

Try Chef Mickey's. Try 3 groups 9,9 , and 12. Non standard party numbers may have more sucess.
