Where to Eat Off Site

Dh and I like Tony Roma's because we don't have one here and enjoy their ribs and such. I really enjoy their BBQ Bourbon Salmon! Yum! For us it is a treat to eat there when visiting the Mouse!! It is farther down the road from Olive Garden, but not too far and is in a shopping center.

I know it's cheesy but we eat at the Perkin's at the Crossroads every trip. They have the BEST panackes ever and the kids meals are under $4. My kids LOVE this place and you sure can't beat the price. We save so much with every meal here that we feel better about splurging on character dinners. :)

We always eat at TGIFridays and Chevys at Crossroads both are very good. We also enjoy eating at Olive Garden.

THanks for all the suggestions. We live in Chain Restaurant Country and when we travel it's hard to find restaurants that we don't live near already. (For example we had a Bahama Breeze that just closed, we have Olive Garden, 4 million steak houses, Macaroni Grill, Melting Pot, Tony Roma's and numerous TGIF's.)

We always have breakfast or lunch at the Denny's near the airport on the day we arrive. When we were at SSR last week, we had one evening where the girls were just too pooped to go out for dinner. I called the Macaroni Grill, and they do "To Go" orders. Worked very well. Also, I had called the "Front Desk" at the resort, and they were unwilling to give out recommendations for Chinese delivery. Too bad. We got this info. at OKW a few years ago.

We completely agree with Quadman about Charley's. We try to fit in a visit there on every trip. Probably the best steaks we've had anywhere.

I'm not saying most of the posted places aren't good, but they're rather ordinary. I can go to most of them in my backyard. [...]
Thanks for the recommendations. And while I agree with you about trying new dining experiences; sometimes - particularly after a few days at WDW - an "old reliable" chain restaurant can be quite comfortable as well as more cost-effective.

Non-WDW places we like to eat are: Chevy's (Mexican) has great Margaritas and chips. Steak and Shake is great for hamburgers or chili. We usually go to US once to eat at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. Also like others mentioned: Tony Roma's, Ruth Chris Steakhouse. Also noticed that they have a McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant. Wanted to try that on a recent trip to Oregon but didn't have time, so it's on the list to try on our next trip to Orlando.

There's still so many places at WDW we haven't tried yet. We usually try to hit one or two places each trip that we haven't been to yet. It's just that the ones we have tried are just so darned good that we keep going back.

We have eaten at (and enjoyed) the chain restaurants mentioned. We also like the Orlando Ale House (make a left at the Crossroads and it is a short way down on the left). The portions are enormous and the food good (not fancy). The price is quite reasonable. Sandie B

We usually go to the Outback, have gone to Chili's. To get to it turn left at the stoplight at Crossroads and look for it on the left. We also like to go to the Hard Rock Cafe and Largarittaville at City Walk, Universal Orlando.

I have a book I picked up at our AAA office and it has lots of restaurants listed in it. One of them that reealy looks good to me, but we have not tried yet is Adobe Gila's. It is located at Pointe Orlando, 9101 International Drive.

I will definetly recommend you DO NOT try Key W Kools. We went there on a trip in 2002 and took my 4 month old neice to dinner with us. Guess what? She made our party a party of 6 which they charge an automatic gratuity of 15%. Our server asked us what she wanted to drink and what she wanted to eat. Again she was 4 months old! He never filled our glasses, was extremely rude, told my mother if she only order a salad she would be charged for a full meal anyway, & kept telling us how wonderful their food was. Needless to say the food was mediocre. The manager wasn't available when I asked for him when we wre leaving. So I make sure I let people know about them when I have the chance. We will never go back.

Anyway have fun deciding. Hope this helps some!

I was amazed that no one else mentioned the Orlando Ale House. This is one of our favorites. Like sandieb said, the portions are enormous. There is a huge menu to choose from. The prices are very reasonable. We haven't eaten one thing there that we haven't enjoyed.

So, my vote is for the Orlando Ale House!!! :earboy2:

We like to go to the Olive Garden it is just down fromthe Crossroads centre you will want to turn left at the lights. We also like to go to the Sizzlers and Shoneys just down the same way we usually walk to there from downtown Disney.
