WHERE TO EAT? (no kids)

Hubby and I are taking a trip with out kids for our anniversary in May. Any suggestions on where we should eat. We are staying on property and we have only been to WDW one other time and that was with kids so we did mainly counter service and Hollywood and Vine.

We are looking at the silver package so we will have 2 wishes per day each.

My advice is to go to www.allearsnet.com to look at the choices and the menus! Only you know what stuff you guys like to eat. Have fun!

DH and I are kidless (at least until next June when our first is due) and after going to Disney together many times, here are a few of our favorites:

- Jiko
- California Grill
- Wolfgang Puck's Cafe and Upstairs Dining
- Boma
- Kimonos for a late night snack
- Alfredos
- San Angel Inn

I agree...take a look at the menus.

I really like Artists Point, my parents ("kid-less" on trips for many years now lol) really like Flying Fish. I've heard many good reviews on Le Cellier. I personally think it's great to get an outside table and Rose and Crown and watch Illuminations over a nice meal. Time dinner so that you are on coffee/desert/after dinner drink/ for the show. Outside tables are not guaranteed, but I think it's worth a try. It's relaxing this way without the kids, and makes for a lovely grown up evening. (I actually think Epcot at night is really fun for grown-ups in general!)

Thanks for the input. Could someone tell me more about LeCellier and Jiko. So far the menu at Jiko has really piked my interrest. Does anyone know anything about the Concorse Steakhouse?

DH and I really like the Concourse Steakhouse. We ate there twice for dinner and once for breakfast on our last trip (Oct 04). We find the food to be well prepared and the service excellent. If you like Shrimp Cocktail they have a nice one, 6 large shrimp for just $8.95. It can get a little loud from Chef Mickey but we found eating a little later (7:30 -8:00) seems to help.

Jiko is, in my opinion, one of the best restaurants on property. The food is amazing and the CM's are beyond helpful. If you're not a super picky person, you'll enjoy this place! I even claim to be a picky person, and I've had wonderful meals here.

For appetizers the cinnamon spiced beef roll and taste of africa are my 2 favorites (however I want to try the keyan coffee bbq'd chicken flatbread!)

For entrees - The filet and mac & cheese (seriously) and the Chermoula Roasted Chicken were 2 of my favorites. DH like the monkfish and filet best.

Now - I do NOT like creme brulee at all...but our waitress brought us on while we were there on our honeymoon with a 'card' signed by the staff (very sweet). The pistachio creme brulee was AMAZING with a press pot of coffee.

plus - the south african wines? please...

can you tell I LOVE this place?

Here's a list of our favorites:

Boma for breakfast - Frunch is the best drink and they'll give you the recipe

Le Cellier for late lunch about 2 or 3 in the afternoon, get lunch prices and the meal sticks with you all evening. Get the cheese soup as an appetizer and then ask for extra pretzel bread.

Alfredo's - again, ask for a late lunch seating. Lunch prices and you don't have to eat dinner later. Plus, when you eat at odd times, most of the families have already eaten. Not a place I'd buy appetizers though.

Le Cellier and Jiko are two of my favorites. Le Cellier - the mushroom filet has never done me wrong, just remember that you are in the middle of a theme park with hundreds of others that are eating etc. (what I am saying is - that while the service and ambience are good - its not top notch like at some other resort type restaraunts) Jiko is very nice - both the monkfish and the filet were wonderful as was our service (and the zebratini!) and spending time at the AKL is a plus!

We went to Jiko last week. It was a Monday evening at 9:15 p.m. and it was jam-packed. I think it may be really crowded when the hotel is full. With the restaurant that packed, we didn't really enjoy it. We were seated at the long banquet seating with tables close to each other. The people next to us were obviously sick with colds and spent the meal coughing and blowing their noses. It was unappetizing not to mention we didn't relish the thought of catching what they had.

The food was great, the service wonderful, but the experience (unlike past times there) left much to be desired. So, I'd be careful of Jiko when AKL is full. There aren't that many eating options at AKL and it's so far from everything else everyone congregates at Boma and Jiko for lack of anywhere else to go in the evening.

Although expensive, if you want a truly romantic and memorable meal, go to Victoria and Albert's (although I don't know if silver wishes will cover it). In our opinion, everything else pales in comparison.
