Hi, we have eaten in hollywood and vine and mama melrose as part of the fantasmic dinner package also, we celebrated DD,s 9th birthday in sci fi dine in, I fancy something different this year but, reading the brits guide nothing jumps out at me, any recommendations? if not MGM, is it practical to go over to the boardwalk, maybe brave the "kitchen sink"???//:confused3

The dining options are pretty limited in MGM. The Brown Derby is quite nice, although it's a while since I've eaten there.

It's very easy to get to the Boardwalk from MGM, either take the boat or a pleasant 15 minute stroll along the river.
Have you eaten at Flying Fish or Spoodles? Both are very good although a little expensive.

50s Prime Time Cafe is the quintessential Disney dining experience. It has great food, and a wonderfully fun atmosphere, where the guests are not only treated to a show, but become part of the show. It's the first restaurant I recommend folks visit when selecting a restaurant at D-MGM.

I would concur with Bicker, if you want to have fun whilst you eat this is the place, however the Brown Derby probably serves up the best quality meals but that is reflected in the price

We enjoyed 50's Prime Time :) Food was good and it was different :)

Hi Slinky Dog,

We recently ate at Flying Fish Cafe. After checking out the on-line menus I made my ADR. When we arrived at the restuarant the menu we were given was completely different to the on-line choice. This was fine for DH and myself but DD(16) and DS (13) could not find anything they liked on the adult menu. I asked for the 'young adults' menu but was told that my kids looked too old to be eating from that. After threatening to leave, the waiter decided the kids could choose off the 'young adults' but we would have to pay for the the lowest priced item off the main menu (approx $22). I agreed but was not at all happy and told the waiter so.

When the bill was presented we had been charged for the items off the 'young adults' menu because the on-line menu we had viewed had not been updated nor did it give an age limit for the young adult menu on the board outside the restaurant.

So beware trusting the on-line menus too much.

I would say Brown Derby ~ Lovely atmosphere and the food is really nice as well:)

Our family favourite at MGM besides Mama Melrose, is the 50's prime time cafe. The food is lovely and we love the atmosphere and the service, well amazing :lmao:

I'd love to have eaten there but I made the mistake of telling everyone about it ~ they all refused to go. :sad2:

Never mind, I have booked Whispering Canyon. ;) :yay:
