We'll be spending all day in the Studios on a day that they are open from 9-7. We'll either eat lunch or dinner in the park. Where's a good place to eat?

My two favorite places in DHS are the 50's Prime Time Cafe and Mama Melrose's. We usually go to 50's, not so much for the food, but for the fun. If you get a good server, it can be one of the most memorable parts of your vacation. Mama Melrose has some very good Italian food, and it's not as crowded as the 50's (at least, it hasn't been when we were there).

DHS also has the Brown Derby restaurant, but the food is a bit too fancy for DH and I (and expensive!).

For a sit down lunch, we enjoy Sci-Fi. We like the burgers and reubens and shakes. It is dark and a nice place to cool down from the FL heat.
For dinner, our first choice is Brown Derby. Great food and service. Our second choice is Mama Melrose which we usually enjoy but our last trip the food wasn't as good as it usually is.

For lunch, I would definitely suggest Sci Fi Dine In (loved the onion rings, burger and the reuben sandwich; oh, and the shakes are heavenly). For dinner, I would go with Mama Melrose...we've been here four times now and have always had great food and great service. We've not done 50's Prime Time in over 10 years so I can't really comment on it. We did Brown Derby once and once was enough--mediocre food and really bad service.

I second Mama Melrose and/or 50s Prime Time...both are good.:thumbsup2 SciFi Diner is ok for lunch but I wouldn't do dinner there.

I can't comment on Brown Derby as I have not eaten there.

We really like Mama Melrose. The food there is always good and we've had good service.

I'd suggest Sci-Fi for lunch (really fun!) and Mama Melrose for dinner.

When we do DHS, for lunch we love Sci-Fi. The food is so yummy and you can't beat the atmosphere. For dinner, we love love love Hollywood Brown Derby. We've never had a bad meal here. Service is fabulous and the restaurant is so Hollywood glamorous. :thumbsup2

50's Prime Time Cafe is a must-do for my family when we're at DHS. The pot roast is delicious, and so is the fried chicken. Just yummy warm your belly-type food in a fun setting. We've tried other table service restaurants at DHS but weren't very impressed.

DH and I both love 50 PTC for a mid-day lunch - then snacks for dinner, the food is excellent at 50s - this recent trip I went out on a limb and tried the roasted pepper, OMG it was incredible!! DH had the fish sandwich, also delicious. I've eaten dinner at the Brown Derby years ago, I remember it but it wasn't memorable (especially for 2TS if you're on DDP).

I love 50s Prime Time! I think it's the best place at HS or Sci-Fi, but the entertainment at Prime Time is great with the waitresses/waiters all in character

We loved Sci-Fi. I admit the car seating was a little awkward with a baby and a toddler, but it was worth it. The place was like an Oasis. It was dark, calm, quiet (cuz everyone watches the movie screen) and cool. A real treat after a morning of heat and chaos in the park. My son loved sitting in the car too.

And I will say that we were pleasantly surprised at the food. The steak was very very yummy!

Add another vote for 50's Prime Time. This was our second time back in December and one of the highlights of our trip!

My fav. counter service is Starring Rolls. The sandwiches are HUGE and you can probably share and the desserts are out of this world! (Definately try the Butterfinger cupcake..YUM!)
