My DS (5) and I will be alone in Epcot one day.

Where should we eat that is 1 TS?

We could do late lunch or early dinner. We won't be able to get LeCellier or Garden Grill at this point if we wanted it, so no need to mention those.

We are both pretty adventurous eaters. And we like Japanese, Italian, Mexican, etc.food

Right now I have booked Chefs de France for a late lunch (2:00 pm...hoping to see Remy) OR Biergarten for an early dinner. But we could do something else? Is Coral Reef food that bad?

I think Chefs is a great choice; I would keep your reservation. Biergarten is good too, so if you change your mind, you have a good backup. If you stray from either of these restaurants, I would choose Teppan Edo.

I wouldn't pick Coral Reef. For us, the food was just blah. The dining experience of eating with the aquarium didn't make up for the food quality either. I could have just walked around The Living Seas.

I thought about Teppan Edo, but the hibachi place that we go to here is called Ninja (so way cooler for a 5 year old ;) ) and there is a big fire at the start of the show. The biggest difference would be that they make the fried rice with eggs and bacon and tons of butter. I am wondering if DS would be upset to get plain rice (he loves bacon and butter!)

If you really do want Le Cellier or Garden Grill you should not write them off, but keep checking for a reservation.

In February, I got a lunch reservation at Le Cellier for 6 two days before we ate there.

Fried rice with bacon, eggs and butter doesn't sound like Japanese food. Paula Deen would make that before Morimoto would.

You didn't say what day your Chefs reservation is. Remy doesn't appear on Sundays. You may already be aware of that, but if you booked a Sunday you may want to change it.

Chefs is one of our favorites, I love the look of the dining room. It feels a little more grown-up to me, that is untill you get a visit from the Chef! Remy is adorable, I'm sure your son will love him.

Coral Reef is one of our "must - do" restaurants. We always order the steak and think it's one of the better steaks on property. We don't order seafood because we live at the shore and can get really good, fresh seafood at home. We always ask to be seated near the tank, and have never had anything but a good experience.

We also have a really good Japanese steakhouse at home and were slightly disapointed with Teppan Edo. It wasn't bad, just not special!

You said you were adventurous, have you thought about eating at Moroco? I've seen very good reviews and the bellydancer sounds like fun!

first I want to thank you for asking this, my DD(5) and I will be at epcot for one afternoon/evening and I was thinking of changing our supper ADR from planet hollywood in DTD to something in epcot. been stalking garden grill but I couldn't think of anything else I might want to try. (we are *not* adventurious eaters, and Le C is 2 ts for dinner now. (plus reading things like "pink peppercorn sauce" makes me go :eek and wonder if I would enjoy anything.)

so keep the suggestions coming everyone! :goodvibes

also about the japan steakhouse thing, my friends and I always go off property to Kobe's. I've always enjoyed the place, and doubt I will try the one at Epcot.

Teppan Edo is good. The food is tasty. But the menu is very limited compared to most Japanese hibachi houses, and the prices are generally high.

If there's a hibachi place you normally go to in your hometown, then i wouldnt bother with Teppan Edo simply because its nothing new for you. I personally LOVE Teppan Edo, by far one of my fave restaurants in all of disney....they have far better steaks than le cellier!!! I would recommend this place to anyone.....having said that, this was my first experience at a hibachi place! That could be why i loved it so much. Lol. There arent many hibachi places in my hometown that i know of, which is why i was so excited about Teppan Edo at disney.

Honestly I would go for restaurants that are unique to you and your family. Its more fun that way. :thumbsup2

We do live in GA, so they add bacon and eggs to the fried rice :lmao: I know it is not authentic, but it is really good...the rest of the menu is traditional sushi and grilled meat and veggies with teriyaki sauce

I really enjoed Chefs de France when we ate there this past trip and we did get a visit from Remy. When I ate at Coral Reef the worst part of the meal was the dessert (which I did not care for) but I did not think the food was bad and it was neat to sit next to the tank. Depending on what you DS enjoys (if it is fish/aquariums) this may be a real thill! Biergarten has dancing and interaction if that would be of interest? I do not think you can go wrong with your choices. Le Ceillier was nice but I am not sure if I would eat there again (maybe its just me), the best part was the bread and appetizers! :goodvibes It seems like it was geared more towards adults too.

Lots of luck and hope you have a great time, I think you cannot go wrong with the unique restaurants in WS.

Coral Reef is one of our favorites in all of WDW. It is a nice way to finish the day or just take a break. It is dim and with the giant tank there is always something to watch and enjoy while waiting for our food. I will say the "kids" meals were not particularly impressive, but DH and I have both ordered the steak twice and found it better than Le Cellier both times (could just be the times we were there):confused3 I also loved dining in Morroco- the rest of the family found it a little "too different" for them.

I agree with this. If you really want one of these ADRs, the key to being successful is to be persistent. I have reworked my ADRs for our upcoming trip and wanted to add a Crystal Palace breakfast (before the park opened) to our list (this was about a week or so ago). I was on that online dining 3-4 times a day checking to see if anything opened up. Finally I found a 8:25am ADR that I snatched up right away. So it is definitely possible to get it....plus I would check the cancellation threads for the month you are going....just don't loose out on hope.

For your question though, I think Chef's is a great idea, especially if you can see Remy. Teppan Edo is another good suggestion, eventhough my girls did not care for it (they didn't care for the food, but loved the show). As for Coral Reef, we really enjoyed our dinners there and watching the fish swim around in the huge tank was pretty cool. Good luck

Ha ha ha :lmao: I also had better steak at other places besides le cellier! (Teppan Edo had the best steak as i mentioned above). I wouldnt go back to le cellier to be honest. HUGE disappointment there. There was nothing good about that place. Just blah. :confused3

I think your DS will enjoy Chef's more, but if you really like Japanese food, check out the menu at Tokyo Dining. I've never eaten there, but it looks really good.

I was thinking Biergarten for the "fun" atmosphere...now I am thinking Chefs (I did book a time about 45 minutes before Remy is too appear, according to the schedules out there, so I am hoping we see him)...I will not tell DS just in case...I will tell him it is Remy's restuarant though-he will get a kick just out of that :thumbsup2

I am thinking I'd rather be served than have to deal with another buffet and a 5 year old (we are doing Cape May alone the day before and 1900 Park Fare the next day). Plus, I think I can just use my adult TS credit for the 3 course meal and order a bacon flatbread thing for DS and save his child TS for 1900 Park Fare breakfast. While lunch at Chefs de France might not be the best use of an adult credit...it would save me OOP and tips

Ugh...I know this a tired complaint, but it is really hard to decide what I want to eat so far in advance...and I am trying not to hold onto extra ADRs

Is Coral Reef food that bad?

I actually had a nice piece of fish there a couple of years ago when we went. My then 2yo DD enjoyed the bread, which was roughly the size of her head at the time. That said, we were seated toward the back of the restaurant and missed out on a lot of the magic of being seated closer to the aquarium.

Chefs de France is a good choice, in my opinion, as is Teppan Edo. I really like the CS options at Epcot, too, so there is certainly no shortage of good places.
