Hoping to do this in Dec. There will be at 7 of us; myself, DH, DS6, DS2, DS2, DMIL and nephew. We will probably take TGM's suggestion and go to the first performance. Any suggestions on where we should eat considering the ages of the kids?

We ate at the Coral Reef and loved it, but it didn't have a xmas feel at all, so I recommend le cellier steakhouse. I hear the food is really good. This place is popular so make your ADR's 180 days in advance.

We have done the CP twice. The first time we ate in Japan & really enjoyed it. Our second experience was in U.K. at R&C which was good but we enjoyed Japan more. With the age of your children I would probably consider Germany. My DDs loved this when they were younger.

We've eaten at Alfredos (closing) and Teppanyaki - which is one of my personal favorite restaurants at Disney. I am not sure what they are doing during the rehab, so I'll wait on booking that. :)

If your children like dining with the characters, you could dine with Chip and Dale, Mickey, Pluto, etc. at The Garden Grill located in The Land.

Last year they had certain times you could eat which corresponded with the particular show times (I believe this was new). It didn't effect us, but if my memory serves me, I thought I read about people being unhappy with the eating times for the first show. I could be completely wrong. Hopefully, if I'm right someone here could elaborate on that (or correct me if I'm wrong).

We did the CP this last December and ate at the Garden Grill. We had never been there before and enjoyed it. Enjoy! pixiedust:

We hae done both the Biergarten and Garden Grill. The Biergaten is a buffet and you will have to eat family style, 10 at a table. The entertainment is acceptable. Other good thing is its the closest restraunt to the show. We however, did not care for the food. This year we chose Garden Grill. The food was good and mickey and the gang for picture and autographs to boot. So I would say definetely the Garden Grill. Its the only other Tier l, ie cheapest choice if you are not on the dining plan. They will serve you at the table so no getting up, only downside might be a longer walk back to the show, the garden grill is located in the land, so you will half to walk back about half the park. Just make sure you figure out things timewise. Best of luck.

I don't recall why Tour Guide Mike recommends the first performance - since all meals are eaten BEFORE the shows now. I prefer the later shows because it isn't dark until 6:00. If you go to the last show (seems like it was at 8:15 or 8:30) - it ends just before Illuminations starts at 9:30.

My favorite dinner restaurant for the package was Chefs de France.

I recommend Le Cellier and be sure to have thew cheese soup. Food is always excellent when we go so much so that we make it a definite stop on our yearly trip. Have fun

We'll be trying San Angel Inn, which was the only one we could get.
It's for Dec 24th, and we have to eat at 3.30 for the 6.45 show.
I think that in order to go to the 1st show you have to book lunch instead of dinner.
You might want to call soon and check what's available, these packages go really fast!

What she said.

We are eating at 5:40 at the Garden Grill on 12/24 and attending the last show, 8:15. We booked our ADR the first day they went on sell. The dining times are set based on which show you are attending. You must book a lunch ADR for the first show. If you are going this year, I would start calling now as the packages are already very limited especially with a larger party.

If you are not on the dining plan I would definetely choose a Tier 1 which is Biergarten or Garden Grill. We have done both. My ds didnt care for the food at Biergarten but they liked the entertainment and as the other posters have said its really close to the theater. We have also done the Garden Grill. We all thought the food was decent there except for the dessert, ask for the make your own cupcakes for the kids. If you are paying out of pocket you get the added plus of characters for the kids. As others have said watch your time. We had 2nds of the food and when we arrived for the show it was pretty crowded already.

DH & I did the first CP show last year and it was dark enough by the 5 pm show and we ate our meal around 2:30 at Alfredo's(loved it). We are doing the same thing this year with DS 8 and DD7 and we are eating at the Italian Restaurant Tutto Italia. We can't wait and TGM's plan for this even last year worked perfectly for us. Enjoy:santa:

Given the ages of the kids, I would go with Garden Grill. That's the one we chose for this year. I just made the reservation last week and had no problem. My kids really enjoy this restaurant and we go here every trip. Food has always been consistently good, but nothing fancy or outstanding. When we here in August, the dessert is new and much better than the one they used to serve. Character interaction is very good in a more mellow atmosphere than most character dining locations.

We did Germany last year. The entertainment was good, and they even had the kids down with one of the band members dancing and playing. The food is good and there are enough choices. The one thing we ran into was it was crowded. We waited in line 1/2 hour just to check in! Then had to wait another 20 mins just to be seated. There is special line for the CP if you do the dinner and show, and that line starts forming early as well, but there really is a lot of seating. It amazes me how many people fit. :thumbsup2
