any suggestions? We already know about Liberty Tree Tavern, but are looking for alternatives if we can't get it. My 180 days prior to start booking ADR's is May 31st. :cool1: Thanks

I don't know if you have kids, or their ages, but I say that Thanksgiving is a special holiday, so go somewhere special to you. If you like French food, go to the French pavilion in Epcot. If you want to have a fancy-schmancy dinner, go to Albert & Victorias (I think thats the name of it!) in GF. Its not about the food you eat - ie turkey and stuffing - but who your with!

We always dine at Hollywood & Vine...:goodvibes

The kids just won't miss it! We are even going all out with the DDP this time and they still want the Hollywood & Vine for Thanksgiving! It's fine with me...we have always enjoyed a meal there and there are so many choices that I can eat traditional or try something different! :thumbsup2

We decided to eat at our favorite restaurant, Teppanyaki, now Teppan Edo, in Japan.

We couldn't get into Liberty Tree on Thanksgiving last year, so we got a 6pm ressie at the Whispering Canyon in the Wilderness Lodge. Their Thanksgiving menu is awesome, and it was a nice break from the park after a day of wrestling with the horrible crowds! :rotfl:

Other fun options in the same vein may be Mickey's Back Yard BBQ or Trail's End at Fort Wilderness.

minnierocks,

Is Hollywood and Vine an all you can eat buffet? We have DS14 who eats more than the rest of us combined on any given day, so we basically need a feeding trough!! :rotfl2:

:yay: :yay: :yay:
TIP:
Stay away from the parks that day and choose one of the deluxe resort restaurants. I like Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club, been there TWICE for Thanksgiving day and wasn't disappointed at all.

The parks can be monstrous and if you are not there bright and early, you might not get in at all! I'd go with a resort restaurant no matter what you choose.

Here is a minor overview of the restaurants and Thanksgiving menus & prices from last year.

We're thinking California Grill if we don't do a big family thing.

Yes...it's an all-you-can-eat buffet...and I hear ya on how much a 14 year old can eat! ;) For Thanksgiving, they have the traditional foods as well as other dishes. There is carved turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans (they are fabulous!)...along with peel and eat shrimp, pasta dishes, salads and many others. Remember it is a buffet, not gourmet, so if you are looking for fancy dining in a quiet atmosphere, then this is NOT the place for you. But if you are looking for a wonderful variety, in huge quantities, that are really tasty, then it's a great place to go!
My DS is 15 and H&V is truly his favorite place! We always spend the day at (MGM)HS. It is both of my kids top choice. While it is crowded on Thanksgiving, we go early and ride the major attractions, and then spend the rest of the day seeing the shows. We pick a spot for the parade, watch that and then go for dinner. We always do the Fantasmic dining package, so that we can end the night with the show. :thumbsup2

going to be a contrarian here... avoid the parks (I think someone did mention that). We went TG am for emh at MK (wow, lots of abbrv!). We were leaving about 10am to check out - it was wonderful walking out as hoardes were walking in !

We were flying home that day, so we headed to the airport - we're also not big fans of the 'gorge yourself til you die buffet mentality' although it sounds like a teen who can do that in your family :) We also didn't like the crowded nature of restaurants that day and were happy to fly home (less crowded) and celebrated ourselves at home that weekend.

Do you have a car ? Can you go off-site ? If not, a hotel might be a good idea - swim, play, make this your 'day off' ?
