Where to eat at Hollywood Studios?

We also love Mama Melrose... and eat there at every visit.

Just an FYI-
We ate at H & V for Thanksgiving dinner this past year. It was SOOOOO good and the waitress was excellent!! (we were a party of 12). The food was hot, plentiful and tasted great. Everything was clean and the service was one of the best we had that week.

I don't know why everyone seems to dislike this place. Don't know if it was beefed up a bit due to thanksgiving or what, but we loved it and would go back again. :thumbsup2

We had breakfast at H&V day before Thanksgiving & it was great. Had dinner there on our first trip last year & it was also great. Did the Derby Fantasmic pkg this year & is not something I would waste 2 TS on ever again. Food was just ok & service was slow. Did 50's on our very first trip & altho we were a party of 4 we had our own table but only 2 had chairs & the other 2 sat on the bench & another party was just two close to us for comfort. Sci Fi is my all time fav. We've always gotten our own car, front & back seats and this last time since we were 5 we had the car with 3 rows. A limo I guess:rotfl:

We ate at H&V last February and it was surprisingly very good. We only did it because my kids loved Little Einsteins but ended up enjoying the food more than the actual character experience. My husband made 3 trips to the buffet and cleaned his plate each time (he's not really that big of an eater either.) He loved it that much! We liked Sci-Fi but not really for the food just for the theme of the whole place. Our next trip we want to try 50's Prime Time to try the pot roast and fried chicken everyone raves about.

Nothing as far as CS goes

For TS we really enjoy 50's Prime Time, lunch at Sci Fi and we just ate dinner at Mama Melrose last month and we loved it

We like Sci Fi for lunch and Mama Melrose for dinner, too! We didn't like the Sci Fi for dinner as much, but enjoyed the burgers and shakes at lunch. It's a very fun place. A previous poster also mentioned the car arrangement - it has always been the same for us - unless you have more than four in your party, you'll have "hitchhikers" sharing your car.

Does anyone have additional counter service suggestions? We weren't crazy about ABC - any good alternatives?

We did 50's PTC on our last trip and loved it. Our waitress was hilarious and the food was delicious. We are trying Sci Fi for our next trip.

Eat anywhere BUT Mama Melrose. Have tried to eat twice in the last few years and both times the food was gross, inedible, and service was poor. :sad2:

We love 50s PT for dinner. The menu is simple, home cooking type fare, but fresh and tasty, plus they have really good shakes. It's also priced pretty well. We try to eat there on every trip!

Our favorite place to dine at HS is 50's Primetime. If you have never eaten here you should give it a try. We ate there a couple of weeks ago and had great meals again. I had there Fried Chicken and it was excellent.

I personally think that the food at DHS is pretty bad for the most part. In fairness, I still have to try the Brown Derby though. All of the CS is bad and without ADR's I'd probably take the boat over to one of the Epcot resorts or just get a Mickey bar.

I kept hearing the same thing(both CS and TS at HS is gross!) so we are going to pack lunches and then go to a resort restaurant in the evening.

I agree! We were there the week after T'giving and had a WONDERFUL meal. We all left stuffed!! My DH & MIL were both raving about it & I told them how H&V always gets panned as a horrible dinner. We all really liked it :confused3 There was plenty for the kids, too.

Maybe they have seen the reviews and heard the complaints and improved that restaurant. We were there in April '09 and it was horrible, yucky, gross, dirty, etc. etc. I truly hope that they have fixed the problems because H&V had great potential.

I'd keep an eye on current reviews to see if it has truly improved.

OP: have a great trip.

Another vote for 50s prime time. Ambiance is fun, food selections are different and good.

We ate at Mama Melrose's last week and were not very impressed. My son got the pizza, the rest of us tried chix parm and pasta. The pizza was the best out of all. The problem is, I make pretty good italian food, IMHO,:hippie: so it's hard to go somewhere jonesing for italian and get a dry chix piece on some pasta.

Another vote for Mama Melrose. If you cook Italian food then yes it's not gonna do it for you. But I'm not a Italian cook in any way except the Giada way. I think that the food over at Boatwright's is not real southern cuisine.

I also like the Sci-Fi.
