where to eat at Hollywood Studios...I keep switching

Your Children will probably like the Sci-Fi the most. Very entertaining, which makes for a good meal. I also really like the 50s Primetime Cafe, but they might be a little young to "get" it.

The food at Mama Melrose is good, and we have gone there a few times. We have never been to the Brown Derby.

Hollywood and Vine has Handy Mandy and my brother in law loves it is good food. also Prime Time Diner is good and fun but no characters. Brown Derby is pricey but good Sci Fi is bar food sitting in a car with others usually and old old movie clips like drive ins had years ago. Mama Melrose got us once and food was worst we ever had in WDW

Out of those, we've only eaten at the Brown Derby (lunch), but it seemed very formal and fancy (and expensive). The atmosphere wasn't fun, but the food was very good. With little kids, I'd choose one of the others you listed.

Sci fi is fun its def more about the experience than the food (which is not the greatest)

Personally I don't like to dine at hollywood studios..I have always felt it was worth it to take a bus to a nearby resort for dinner. Of course this is not very convenient esp when you have kids but its my opinion that its worth leaving HS to get better quality food.

We love 50's Prime Time Cafe. It is a fun atmosphere and the food is delish!!
I will never return to H & V. I went with low expectations and still was disappointed. The hot food was not hot, the cold food was not cold, we were surrounded by dirty, unbused tables and our waitress was rude. The Ladies Room was filthy.
Sci-Fi is fun, but with the car seating and your little ones, it might be ackward. There are "rows" which seat 2 and all face forward. It would make interaction difficult.
I have not eaten at HBD.

I voted for Sci-fi. Our whole family enjoyed it last trip. I am not sure when your trip is but if you are traveling in the hot summer Sci-fi is such a nice break from the hot park. My DD6 has asked to eat there everyday next trip, I couldn't manage that but we will be eating there twice. We do only order the burgers and shakes though.

The food was okay at 50's but we had a long wait and awful service so we won't return.

Our family (incl 3 young boys) really enjoyed 50s Prime Time Cafe - the food, the service, and the decor (oh that decor!! - reminds me of my youth!!!).
But based on the age of your kids, I would think they would like Sci-Fi better.

I chose Mama's Melrose but I completely agree with this too. We love 50's....we love the food, atmosphere, and the service....your boys will get a real kick out of the antics, especially if you get "in trouble" by your "cousin". Last March we ate there and I had to sing and do the motions to "I'm a Little Tea Pot" because I was laughing at a guy at the next table getting into trouble over something.

As for Mama Melrose, it is typical Italian fare (not true Italian food but it is still really good). The atmosphere and service there was really good too.

Our kids are 5 and 7 and love the atmosphere at Sci-Fi. Having said that, if you're into food, Brown Derby is a must - best food in any park, in my opinion. Our kids enjoyed Brown Derby as well. Both places are must-dos on our trips.
