My girlfriend and I are planning a short trip to Southern California over Spring Break this year. Were only going to have a couple days at Disneyland so I want to do as much as possible. What are some good suggestions for food options in and near the parks that wont take up too much time or budget. Also I have been to Disney World many times so I know about things like Dole whips and Mickey Bars. Thanks!

I love getting a bread bowl of gumbo from Royal Veranda in New Orleans Square :) If you do decide you want a great experience and spend a little more moolah, make a reservation The Blue Bayou. It's a must do.

Fried chicken at the Plaza Inn is amazing! They give you a huge plate, big enough to share.

Corn dogs from the Little Red Wagon are also on the cheap and are said to be really good (I personally haven't had one but they are always raved about).

"What WDW Vets Need to Know About Dining at DLR" http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2914467

If you looking primarily at quick service locations to save time, DLR has a nice variety of places. While nothing is quite as varied as Epcot's WS, that doesn't mean that DLR doesn't have its share of interesting places to try. For my family, our favorite QS locations are French Market (NOS, DL), the Plaza Inn (MS, DL), Flo's V-8 Cafe (Carsland, DCA), and Earl of Sandwich (DTD).

This thread won't have photos from every location, but check out the Disneyland Dining Thread to get a sense of some of the offerings:

You can also sign up for Earl of Sandwich's eclub and you will get a coupon for a free sandwich. I would do it the month you go, though, so it doesn't expire before your trip. I signed up and got it in my email right away but it expires before our trip. Will have to have my hubby sign up with his email right before we go :thumbsup2

Just to follow up...Carnation Cafe is a TS location. It doesn't seem terribly slow, but it's worth noting that isn't a QS location.

In terms of the Jazz Kitchen, do you meant the Jazz Kitchen (the TS location) or the Jazz Kitchen Express (the WQS locations)?

I have to second the fried chicken at Plaza Inn. It's better than what a lot of high end restaurants serve. Hot and crispy skin, tender and juicy meat. It's slightly pricey (meal plus drink will set you back $20) but you get an entire half chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and a biscuit.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the stuffed baked potatoes across from the haunted mansion. One of them is topped with cole slaw and bbq chicken and another is bacon/cheese/sour cream.

A good fairly cheap option for a sit down meal would be cafe Orleans. Get the pomme frites and a bowl of gumbo and some beignets. The Monte Cristo they serve is huge and enough two but it's a pretty heavy meal.

Stage Door Cafe has some killer corndogs like the little red wagon but stage door has fries instead of chips and they have seating over looking the rivers if America.

Coke refreshment corner has great pretzels and good hotdogs.

In DCA, good QS options are Flo's V8 and Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta. Not too expensive, great quality food and one meal is enough to share.

In DL, again with QS options, I would go with Jolly Holiday Bakery.

Even if it's a bit more expensive, you could try a Character Breakfast. The one at Storyteller's Cafe is our favorite as far as food is concern.

Cozy Cone Motel or Award Weiners at DCA.

Try the Chilli Cone Queso at the Cozy Cone Motel......I think they now have a Bacon Mac and Cheese cone there now as well. I have to try that one if they do:thumbsup2

What is the best time to have dinner so the lines are not long and you can get a spot for a table?

In Downtown Disney I would recommend Earl of Sandwich. In the park, I have heard great things about the clam chowder in New Orleans.
