:wizard: hi,

my friends are leaving on 7/9 for disneyworld. i would like to make a countdown calender for their children and give it to them on 6/9 when they have 1 month to go. is there a website that anyone has found to make such a calender?

i can print a month calender, but cant make it start on 6/9 and end on 7/9...

thanks for your help!!

For different vacations before we have made our own Calenders on peices of poster board. We start it when we want..end it when we want..Go to the craft store, buy scrapbooking supplies..(they have lots for Disney stuff) and decorate it up with that..and use Disney themed stickers to mark off the days.

Hope that helps.

Another idea is to make a paper chain and let the kids rip off one link each day until D Day. We did this on the last trip when DS was only 3 and he loved watching the chain get smaller and smaller!

We just made our chain together yesterday. DH, DS4 and I all sat down and made it together. We hung it in DS' room and this morning he proudly tore off the first one. he was sooo happy to be a day closer!!!(Me too!!!!!) :flower:

Wish I had an answer about the actual countdown calendar, as I would love to make one too. That being said, I've got to agree that paper chains are great for little ones. We did them for several years. One time, DD(now7) listed many favorite things about WDW and I wrote one on each chain link. Every day, it gave us something fun to talk about when she ripped of that day's link. :cheer2: It was great fun! (Maybe we'll do it again this year!)

another good idea i heard was to fill a jar with hershey kiss' for the amount of days you have left * one jar for every kid* and they can take one kiss out of the jar every day..and watch it dwindle down as their vacation arrives! :mickeybar

This is my first post so bear with me please... I just made my own Disney trip countdown calendar yesterday. Printed a Disney calendar from the disney website called Disney Magic Artist online (sorry but I don't seem to be allowed to give the Web address, getting a message when try to post). Then wrote in by hand the # of days left until we leave in each of the day squares on the calendar. The kids put a sticker on my handwritten # everyday and they can see in the next day square how many days are left. Hope this makes sense.

What a cute idea...I think I may try something along that line...for the group of kids going on our trip in Oct....I'll just have to figure out how soon I really want to start. :teeth:

We did the paper chain last time, but was very long as the kids wanted to make it when we still had a ways to go before leaving. This time I saw the idea on these boards to get a chubby square post it pad and starting from the back of the pad write "1" on the bottom square and keep going with each paper until you get to the number of days that you need. Each morning one of my kids rips off another number and we are watching the pad get less "chubby" with each passing day. I love this idea because it is small enough to have in the kitchen and not a ton of mess to make or get rid of once the numbers come off. I do like that idea with the Hershey kisses though. Maybe when we get closer to our trip I will incorporate that one also. We are still in the 160's!! I wish it would come faster!!

Lots of great ideas out there!!

here is what I did...

with print master, took a calender template and covered each day with a favorite character of the kid who was going to pull that number down. then, i took 3 different colored post it note pads (one color/kid) and cut them to fit over the number. then i took some WDW scrapbook stickers, and put one with the countdown number on each post it. now every day it is somebody's day to take down a sticky and the last day all 3 colors are covering the day!!!
they are having fun with it!!
