Where to buy, where to buy....

My DW and I are considering buying into the vacation club; right now we are considering either AKV or BCV. I'm leaning towards BCV since it's closest to EPCOT, but I have one sticking point - We usually get the DDP and use the CS for breakfast and then the TS for dinner. In most of the resorts you can use the CS for a big breakfast, either the adult breakfast, or an omlet, or waffles/pancakes... When I look at the dining options for the BC (or the YC), I don't see any reference to breakfast counter service. Is there a CS offering a "real" breakfast on the YC/BC site? As trivial as this sounds, it may sway our decision towards AKV (MARA.)

We have a trip scheduled for the week after Thanksgiving, staying at the AK (Savannah view, king bed) with intentions on taking the BCV tour during the week.

Thanks.

No, there's no real breakfast CS at YC/BC. You can get a breakfast sandwich at the Beach Club Marketplace, but that's about it.

An aside...The thing we like best about staying there is breakfast at the Yacht Club Galley (they changed the name recently but I don't remember the new name). You can order from the menu (my husband often has eggs benedict) or eat from the buffet - it's fast, the food is good, and it's always pretty darned quiet. Nice way to start the morning. :)

There's the BW bakery across the way or you could get something from the parks if you have an AP.

I love BW Bakery, but hope the OP realizes that he (?) cannot get the kind of breakfast he's looking for there, either. Fast but full breakfast is something very lacking in that area IMO.

It's not CS, but Spoodles has a great breakfast just a short walk away at the Boardwalk.

I'm aware of the BW bakery, but I wanted something more substantial than a breakfast sandwich or danish. As far as breakfast in the parks... corect me if I'm wrong, but outside of character buffets, I don't recall anything substantial in the parks - from what I remember, most of the CS places don't open until lunch.

So it looks like BCV may not be for me. Or, I'll just drop the idea of the DDP and go with the other discount dining plan (name escapes me at the moment.)

You can get huge danish using the snack credits or a larger breakfast using the CS credits.

Sunshine Seasons in the land at Epcot has a very nice CS breakfast. :thumbsup2 We used to really like the CS breakfast at Tusker House, but of course that has been changed to a character breakfast. I'm not certain if anything was added at another spot to replace it or not.

It still doesn't equal the convenience of a Mara though.

Who says that the DDP is here to stay and/or that it will continue to become a bad value. Nothing is guaranteed.

Well, to be honest, we've done 10 trips in the past 18 years and even without the DDP this is how we've always eaten (largish breakfast, snack in park (Mickey bar), and a good dinner. The DDP just makes it cheaper and convenient. So if the powers that be decide to drop the DDP or diminish its value, the impact on how I eat will be negligible, I'll just end up spending more. I'm not sure I get your point.

My point was that in reading your first post it seemed that your are using the DDP participating eateries to decide which DVC home resort to purchase.

I wanted to make it clear that perks and policies change every day and I would hate to see you disappointed if things should change.

Since you will be in a DVC resort, if you will be in anything except a studio, you will get a full kitchen to make a substantial breakfast.

If you want a cooked breakfast and don't want to make it yourself, then if you have a car, you could consider going outside the "World" to a traditional chain like Ihop, Denny's, Lyons, etc.

I personally think that would be too much hassle, but it's always an option.

Actually I think we can guarantee that it will cont to change and will eventually go away. In the meantime, any changes are likely not to be good for most.

Same for BWV. You can use TS for breakfast but there is no food court type options that are that large other than Seasons in the park for Epcot. The Studios has a couple of places that might fit in but given we rarely do a large breakfast unless it's a character meal, I can't speak for certain. Many in between places though but it seems that's not what you want. SSR, VWL & AKV are likely the best DVC options, the Values and Moderates are likely the best places that would fit your cravings. While I haven't done breakfast and you'd have to drive, CSR is actually the best value to use for CS because it's really more of a TS but counts as CS.

One other thing to consider is that as far as we know there will not be a CS restaurant in Kidani Village so you will either need to stay in Jambo House (the Lodge building) or walk the 1/2 mile or more from Kidani to The Mara. Many here think the Kidani Village 1BRs and 2BRs will be nicer than those in Jambo House because they are larger, have an additional bathroom and have a separate shower stall in the master bath plus more closet space. Staying in Kidani also gives you the option to stay on a lower floor, closer to the animals. In Jambo House you are limited to staying on the 5th floor (and 6th floor if you are lucky enough to book a Concierge room).
