Where to buy REAL tickets?

I'd like to take advantage of the current $199 promotion (for 3 day park hoppers) but I'd like to get 'real' tickets, meaning not electronic tickets. I'm not staying onsite, so I don't want to waste part of our first morning lining up at guest services to get our passes. I'm trying to figure out where I can get real tickets in advance.

If I buy from AAA, do I get real tickets? (just the tickets, not a hotel package)
If I buy from Disney Store, do I get real tickets? Do they still sell tickets at the Disney Store?
If I wait to get to my Good Neighbor Hotel and buy tickets at their desk, will I be able to get the $199 promotion?

Thanks!

That's not how e-tickets from Disneyland.com work. They ARE "real tickets". You just print them out at home then go directly to the turnstiles as if they were any other ticket. They will scan them and hand you "real" tickets instantly that you'll use for the rest of your trip. No need for guest services. It's how I always buy my tickets.

Really? That's strange, because all of the places that sell 'electronic tickets' say that I have to go to guest services to pick up my tickets. So buying them straight form Disney means I can go to the gate? Interesting. Thanks for the info.

Yes. You'll notice I said when you buy from Disneyland.com. There are some discount ticket vendors that sell vouchers that yes, do require you to go to a ticket booth to trade them, but Disneyland.com e-tickets are completely different. You go straight to the turnstile with your printout. No extra step.

I just copied this from my e-tickets I ordered for our February trip:

PLEASE NOTE: This e-mail is not valid for Theme Park entrance. You must PRINT and BRING
the attached tickets upon visit to the Disneyland® Resort.
1. PRINT YOUR TICKETS
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or higher, commonly found on most
computers. If you do not have it, download it for FREE at: http://www.adobe.com
/products/acrobat/readstep.html
Make sure your printer is turned on and has 8.5" x 11" paper.
Click the "view" or "download" button to open the attachment.
Print the attachment in Black & White or color. Either is acceptable.
Print the entire attachment and bring all pages with you for valid entrance to the
Disneyland® Theme Park(s). Each ticket within your order is on a separate page within
the attachment.
2. SAVE YOUR TICKETS
Save your Disney's eTicket attachment until you have used them at the Disneyland®
Resort.
If you lose your Disney's eTickets prior to your arrival, you may reprint them.
3. BRING YOUR TICKETS UPON YOUR VISIT TO THE DISNEYLAND® RESORT
The pages printed from the attachment are your ACTUAL TICKETS for entrance to the
Disneyland® Theme Park(s). YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ENTER EITHER THEME
PARK WITHOUT THEM.

KEEP YOUR TICKETS IN A SAFE PLACE.
Each ticket has a unique barcode that allows Park admission for the first scan only. Stolen or
misused tickets will not be replaced.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Disneyland® Resort, Where Dreams Come True! If you
have any questions regarding your order, please contact Guest Services by emailing
Ticketinquiries@DisneyOnline.com or calling (714) 781-4400. To assist us in providing the best in

Yep through Disneyland.com each voucher will have its own bar code to scan at the gate. They'll then hand you a regular ticket to use for FPs for the rest of your trip.

E-tickets saved our last trip to DLR!

My cousin bought her ticket through disneyland.com so she too could take advantage of the promo. While on GRR, the lanyard she had her ticket attached to broke. Guest services said they could only issue her a ticket for that day and not replace the two lost days because the tickets are treated like cash. They told us to file a report at lost and found.

She showed lost and found the confirmation email on her phone from her purchase. They were able to replace the 3 day hopper because she had the email on her iphone with the info on it. Hooray for e-tickets!
:yay:

We bought tickets from AAA a few months ago that were e-tickets printed out on paper. It said right on them to take them directly to the entry gates (no need to stop at a ticket window). We handed them to the CM who scanned them. Real passes popped out of the machine with our additional days loaded onto them. I was also worried about getting e-tickets and having to wait at a ticket booth. Turns out it wasn't necessary at all!

This is great information! I knew I asked the right people! Michelle, that's awesome that the e-tickets saved your trip, and also a very valid point.

So yes on the e-tickets, no to the easy-to-break little plastic pouches that are $4.99 in the shops at DLR :rotfl:

If you go the e-ticket route, print an extra copy to bring with you or have the email handy on your smartphone. They keep the one you give them at the turnstile.

Enjoy your trip!

Hi everyone, I am going to DLR for first visit this July!! So excited!! I bought a package through Disney Travel and am staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Can you tell me what kind of tickets I get. At WDW your tickets are on your hotel key. Is it the same at DLR?

Thanks! This board has been so helpful with info for a DLR newbie:)

This also applies to Disneyland tickets purchased at military ticket offices. We purchased ours at MCAS Miramar a few months ago and the gave us 8.5x11 sheets of paper from their printer. Each had a barcode which was scanned directly at the turnstiles where they handed us the regular card-type tickets in return. No muss- no fuss!

No it's not the same. You will likely get the hard plastic souvenier ticket. They can't/don't add them to room keys so you'll have to carry both.

Not the same at DLR, even if you're staying at a Disney Hotel. LOL, We went to WDW a few years ago and stayed for 2 nights. I upgraded our passes to 10 day passes with no expiration option, because it wasn't that much more expensive and I knew we'd use those future days! Well of course the passes were attached to our room keys, so last time we went we had passes that were room keys that were 3 years old! There are still some days on there, so we still have them... It's just freaky because they don't looks like park passes at all and they have our vacation dates and names and such printed on there.

I'm glad to read this because we just picked up our military passes this week for our July trip. So excited!

The hard plastic ones, or the tickety type ones? I'm wondering because when you go to check out, you have options on printing the eticket or having your tickets mailed, at cost. Why would someone pay to have them mailed if you can get the exact same ticket right at the turnstile?
