You'll almost certainly be able to find something on site if you own VB or HH - if you call between six and seven months (right at seven months for certain times of year). I wouldn't worry about that. I would worry about:
1) Money savings in your initial purchase being eaten up by dues - $2 a year will make the difference in 2 or three years if you buy OKW. Yep, there is a huge difference in cost between VB and AKL - not much of one between VB and OKW.
2) The rate of increase of dues - which I believe has been higher on the coast with hurricane risks and the cost of insurance.
3) The possibility that a beach resort will get hit by a hurricane assessment - that would eat up savings very quickly.
4) The possibility that following a hurricane DVC would decide not to repair and rebuild (they'll do an insurance payout to owners if that is the case - but you wouldn't own DVC anymore).
