Where To Buy Paint?

Hi.Ok you Canadians, where do you buy your paints?We are trying to figure out a colour scheme to redo our home(inside). All the decorating shows and home selling shows are showing like all tans, browns shades that I am starting to love.DD17 is all into this and wants to start next week,Hey slow down.If you use Benjamin Moore- and the tan shades, whats the name? Yesterday we came home with a sample called "Tyler Taupe".

We just painted our house with Benjamin Moore. Our "tan" colour is called Wild Mushroom. You can buy sample paints at BM for around $5.00. I found that helpful. Our front room is a shade lighter than wild mushroom, it is called bluffs. We are really happy with the colours. There are so many shades of "brown", it is mind boggling. Good luck

MY kitchen is also painted with BM wild mushroom. I don't really consider it a tan though.

I have painted with just about every good brand of paint out there and IMO Benjamin Moore is the best. It cures properly and is super washable. They also have a great selection of new and unique products.

As to colour, if you go into a BM specific store the staff can guide you with selecting a good colour for you/your room. They will be able to tell you which colours are the current trend. Take as much information as you can to the store with you ie: lighting--fabric--flooring this will help with colour selection. as the PP stated you can buy samples of paint for $5. If you don't want to apply a sample of paint to the wall you can also buy 16x16 paint chips that you can tape to the wall(and later remove) also for $5.

I get my paint chips from BM (I like the colours) But then I take it to Home Depot and get them to colour match it. I like the Behr paint. It has better coverage and is less expensive.

(IMO I think tan neutrals are going out of style and grey shades are coming in.)

I just watched a decorating show this week on HGTV that said the trend is toward warm neutrals that incorporate lots of texture. Decor goes in 10 year cycles and just like in fashion we are headed back to 80's inspired looks.

I really like Benjamin Moore also but I was unable to find quite the right colour scheme of tans to go with our carpet. So I bought General Paint - Lulled Beige for the bathrooms, Crisp Khaki for most of the house and Daplin for one bedroom and the wall going down our stairs. All are in the same family, just a shade or two darker from the rest. For my kitchen, I used BM Saybrook Sage - a very nice greyed green, and in my dining room I did 2 walls of Crisp Khaki and two walls of Georgian Brick. I love the Brick colour but two walls is enough, and I have bits of brick accents in cushions, in paintings throughout the house. I find the colours so calming. In fact, about 3 coworkers saw my colours and all did the same ones! What a compliment.

Well I like Ralph Lauren at home depot. The colours are bold and the paint quality and coverage is great. Found it last longer than BM

We are too into the more bold colours that give the WOW factor.

We really enjoy three of the paints mentioned here alread.

You can't go wrong with any of these. We fould the colour your world paint rather poor and st. clair highest end paint was the only acceptable one there.

Have used Benjamin Moore as well as Behr. I prefer Behr. I find it coats the walls better. Anyhoo. I just painted our main hall in "Brooklyn Beige" which is a Benjamin Moore paint but I got Home Depot to colour match with Behr. It is a dark tan with a rust undertone. I love, love, love the colour. My house is full of natural colours. Meaning I have blues (as in the sky & oceans), Beiges (the earth) and greens (the grass) I have a dark blue carpet with a green (colour is called sage green from Behr) and the Brooklyn Beige is in the main hall way which can be seen from our family room. My kitchen is painted with a blue colour called provence from Behr and my Livingroom/Diningroom is painted in a colour called rich taupe also from Behr. I love the neutral colours but I also love colour. So I took what I see when outside and I brought those colours inside. So you could say that my house is down to earth.

hi, we just painted my sons room and the main bathroom...the bathroom is woodstock tan, my sons room is woodstock tan and mountain moss, and we added some colour to the living room and dining room and hallway and painted it cork( ALL benjamin moore colours)...we want to paint the basement roasted coffee beans and the kitchen louisanna red(possibly).....i love benjamin moore colours but i only sometimes purchase their paint...

I have used Benjamin Moore as well and I do find it works quite well. We just recently had our basement finished and used three colours ... but the pink playroom wouldn't interest you ... our two colours were called .... Providence Olive HC-98 (this was in our family room and it is khaki-ish kind of colour ... changes in the light) ... our hallways, bathroom, laundry room, etc we did in one colour also and it was called Abingdon Putty HC-99. It is a nice soft, warm colour. The Olive colour looks great with our new dark sage green furniture and dark cherry coloured tv cabinet. We are very happy . (I actually LOVE the pink playroom though )

p.s. Although I like Benjamin Moore, the best paint we have used ourselves is actually Sherwin Williams. My dh is a good painter, and he LOVES the paint I have brought home from SW. We never did have success with Behr. My in-laws used it (and swear by it), but I think their paint looks terrible.
