Where to book Windsor Hills?

I was going to book for 3 weeks over next Thanksgiving on vacationcentralflorida but they require $200-$250 PER week within 10 days... I'm just not comfortable doing that, especially as DH is military and I would cringe to lose that much this far out.

Any other affordable suggestions? I don't mind spending a few hundred more for the trip for piece of mind. I'd definitely like to stay under 2000 for the whole trip (Nov 19-Dec 10, 2011) though. We were looking at a 3 BR condo.

A three week deposit for a trip that's over a year away does seem like a lot of money. I believe some agencies require a $500 deposit (rather than $250) if you are staying more than two weeks; however, it sounds like you would still be required to pay more than that through vacationcentral.

At first I thought it might be cheaper for you to book privately through vrbo; however, after checking prices on some units, it seems that people are charging top prices for that week of Thanksgiving and a lot of rates start at $85 per night.

I suggest you look at booking through www.floridasunvacationhomes.com.

They charge high season the week of Thanksgiving rather than Peak holiday prices. Also, most other nights in your trip are considered low season ($69-79 per night). Stays longer than 7 nights also get a 15% discount. After crunching numbers, it looks like your trip would come in under $2000 including cleaning and taxes. If you look at their website, they will show you what's available for next year. However, you will not be able to book until January as they don't book more than 10 months ahead of time.

They were the management company for the house we rented last time to went to Windsor Hills and we just booked with them for our upcoming Spring Break trip. I highly recommend them. :thumbsup2

Good luck planning your trip!

Thanks. We can definitely wait to book. Just looking ahead of time because its easier for DH to get leave if we can book it etc ASAP. I think I saw a couple I liked on there earlier. :)

Last December we stayed in a condo thru 5mins2disney.com. It was the unit called Wishes. It was very nice and very affordable. I can't remember the deposit amount but I don't think it was that much. The only problem we had with the unit is it only let you put the ac so low and we were hot sometimes in Dec! George was a pleasure to work with.

Both of my WH rentals were originally found through this site:

www.windsorhillsrent.com

You will get a lot of "automated" responses to your query (many of which will not be at all responsive to what you are asking for) but you will also probably find some interesting ones from which to pick. Relatively low effort on the renter's part.

Email Dave Robinson the owner of (vacation central flordia) and see if he will work with you. The deposit is $250 per rental and since they only rent by the week, you're being asked to pay 3 deposits for 3 rentals. But if you email him and explain your situation, he may make some concessions. I found him very easy to work with last year.

After looking around I think I'll try this first. His rates are just a LOT cheaper than booking by the night and some of the other sites.

I haven't looked at rates but I believe you can also book through Global Resorts Homes. I stayed with them a couple weeks ago and it was a great group of people to work with.

I want to second what Brian Noble wrote about www.windsorhillsrent.com I have found reasonable townhouses and pool homes here by putting in an inquiry. Just be ready for lots of responses. I generally ask folks for their best price including taxes and pool heat.

Why do you say that? I also rented through them last year and had a situation come up where another townhouse they had showed a cheaper rate than the one I had reserved. I contacted them and they switched me to the cheaper rate no questions asked and were very easy to work with. I wouldn't hesitate to rent from them again.

Would you care to elaborate?

I would like to know what you mean also, I plan on renting from him soon and heard nothing but good reviews.

I am renting from Dave too.. next month. I feel comfortable enough renting with all the positive reviews around here, and the information provided by the Robinson's, and their web site.

After googleing Jeza66, someone with only 8 posts here, it appears they also have an interest in Windsor Hills..
Hmmmm...Now THAT is someone I would be VERY CAREFUL of!

:thumbsup2 I hope you write a review, I would love to hear your thought and experience on the condo.

You might try www.windsorhillsbest.com. It is the website recommended by the Windsor Hills Masters Association and in order for owners to advertise they must show evidence they are paid up on their HOA dues and ownership is verified as well as paid up taxes, etc. It is run by owners of the resort. You can click on each persons' website and email them directly.

We booked our upcoming stay in WH with homeaway.com. You can also purchase inexpensive insurance just I case there would be any problems. We are staying for month and ins. Was 49.00, so protects us I case foreclosure, double booking, etc. I went to county auditor website before booking to make sure taxes were up to date and if any leins on property.

My wife and I recently stayed at Windsor Hills through Dave and I can't speak highly enough about him, his locations and great service provided.

Whoever is asking you to "be careful" with Dave is someone I would avoid at all costs because they simply aren't being honest about Dave or with themselves.

I'm almost positive Dave would work out something with you if you emailed him and let him know your unique situation. Certainly doesn't hurt to ask either way.

I was just looking at Dave's website. The dates we're planning to go next year in October is $399 for entire week? Is that possible? Are there hidden fees? We have never stayed at Windsor Hills (or a condo at Disney). We stayed at Buena Vista Suites last month and decided we definitely needed more space next year. We have 3 children.
