I figure we should stop somewhere on I 10 or I-12
Looking at lafayetta, la or baton rouge, la
Are there any not so safe areas to avoid?
This would be about our half way point.
Also, one more hotel at either Tallahassee, Fl LEAVING 254 MILES FOR NEXT DAY OR or Near Disney World, . This would give us an early start the next day at Disney.

I am interested in this too! We are coming from an hour south of Houston and we normally drive the entire way when my husband is driving. This trip it will be just the kids and myself.

Hey Tiggerholic

We are both Tigger by name, making this trip around the same time, from the same direction (I am actually coming from Oklahoma), and with children, no hubby this time and it Looks like from our countdown counter we are both staying at AKL. Us Tiggers think alike. Have a great trip.

If I were planning to stay in Louisiana, I would choose Baton Rouge over Lafayette.

When we drive (I live in West Houston), we usually stop in Mobile (that's about 7 hours from Houston, not counting stops) or Pensacola (8 hours, not counting stops). That's about halfway. The entire drive time, not counting stops, from Houston to the World is right around 14 1/2 hours.

I usually push for Pensacola because I feel better if I've crossed the Florida state line (and the time-zone-change line) before going to bed that night. :rotfl:

Any travel site can probably find y'all a clean, inexpensive room right on the interstate in any of these towns.

I'm from Baton Rouge and Lafayette. There are plenty of places to stay off the I-10 at both cities. Right off the interstate I would consider a safe place to stay. We like the Drury Hotels- Free breakfast, dinner, drinks, popcorn!

Oh and Baton Rouge is only 45 mins from Lafayette. So if you are hoping to get closer to your destination then I would just go on to Baton Rouge. There is a Drury on Essen Lane which is right off of I-10.

Baton Rouge sounds pretty good to me. We usually go past Pensacola to Milton or Destin but thats over 900 miles. Thinking of not going so far, maybe 650 miles (Baton Rouge) and real close to Disney the next day, another 650 miles. Thought I would bid for a room with price line or Hotwire for ** 1/2 or better starred at cheap prices.
