Where should we eat at Disney Hilton Head?

I’ve posted this message on a few other boards as well, but wanted to get as wide a variety of opinions as possible. My DW & I will be driving down to Disney & will be stopping at Hilton Head for the night & will be staying at the Disney Resort there. We should be getting there about 3:00 or 4:00pm and we’ll be leaving the next morning at 7:00 or 8:00am, so we won’t be there long. But we’ll definitely be eating dinner there.

As a way of saving a few bucks, I was thinking of checking out restaurant.com’s list of Hilton Head restaurants. Here’s a list of the participating places:

B-5 Bistro
British Open Pub
Callahan’s Sports Bar & Grill
Corner Stone Grill
Del Vecchio’s
Flavor’s
Giuseppe’s {edited: had Flavor's & Giuseppe's on the same line. Sorry for the confusion.}
Island West Grille
Main Street Café & Pub
Mickey’s Pub
Nick’s Steak & Seafood
Parrot Cove Café
Plantation Café & Deli
Prescott’s Steaks & Seafood
The Studio
Upper Crust

Does anyone have any reviews, positive or negative, of any of these places? I can get a $25 gift certificate for only $5 to any of these places. Or do I just stick with my choices in the Disney resort? If that’s the route I should take, what are your suggestions for the places inside the Disney resort? And why?

They only have a counter service type places to eat within resort.

I would definitely plan on going out.

Although I've never been to any of them, nor gotten any reviews, Parrots Cove is within walking distance, but unfortunately British Open Pub is very far (may be even off-island). We wanted to try there because as I remember, it has a golf theme. If Flavor Guisseppe's is the pizza place, that's nearby too. I've heard both good and bad about it.

We ate at the British Open Pub in April 2005. It was very good. I can't remember what everyone had, but everyone was happy.

We just returned from HH, and ate at the Sea Shack. It is a "hole in the road", but GREAT food, at great prices.

4 of us ate seafood for $38!! Comes on a paper plate with hushpupies, salad, potato.
Hint: get there early, they open at 5pm. There is always a wait there!

I can't help you with any restaurants on the list. However, our inexpensive favorites are San Miguels, Giuseppe's, and Aunt Chilada's. A bit more expensive is Scott's Seafood Market, which is right across the pedestrian bridge for the resort. Have a terrific vacation!!

P.S. We never do expensive restaurants, but that's just us! Didn't mean to imply you would want inexpensive.

We visited there August 05 and ate out several times. Giuseppe's is good pizza. It was VERY busy the evening we were there, but we ate ice cream at a Brusters (I think) right next door while we waited on our pizza. We took the pizza back to the villa and had a relatively quiet evening. We also ate at Fuddruckers which is in the same parking lot as Giuseppe's. We tried Scott's which is within walking distance. The food was a bit expensive, but everyone was anxious to have some seafood! Good luck and enjoy. We can't wait to go back to Hilton Head!

In the interests of honesty and another opinion, we thought Giuseppe's was inedible. The pizza was gross in terms of texture, quality, and taste. To say we were disappointed was an understatement (and we are not picky eaters). We liked the Crazy Crab at Harbour Town (though we have heard the other location is even better), Sea Shack was affordable and interesting but not as good as Crazy Crab (but better prized), and a steakhouse that slips my mind as to its name (its a chain we have eaten at before in the south, but haven't seen in our area) was quite good. Believe it or not, the Piggly Wiggly's deli area is also an awesome place to pick up a meal with a great selection and good quality.

Totally agree here with Doctor P about Giuseppi's. I had read so many good comments about it before our first trip (5 years ago), that it was one of the first places we ate. It was awful. We are not picky eaters, and enjoy different pizza styles. None of us (there are 5) liked it -- and my kids love pizza. Always see lots of people there -- cannot figure that one out.

There are two and they are not directly related. The one in Sea Pines get poor reviews consistently. The one close to the DVC resorts gets good to great reviews consistently.

Interesting since they advertise in the same ads, have references to both sites on the menus, and have the same menu on line. In any case, we had a great meal at the one at Sea Pines. Perhaps we got lucky. BTW, the one in Sea Pines would seem to be closer to DVC than the other one. The other one is about 9 miles from the resort (at the edge of the bridge). Is it possible that we might possibly be talking about two different places?????

British Open Pub is located on island (there are two add'l locations off-island as well). It's fairly close to the DVC although you have to drive--at the Village of Wexford, in a sort of strip mall, same side of the road as DVC towards Sea Pines. Their menu looks good and I've been wanting to try it this summer but haven't gotten there yet!

Another option is the Early Bird Specials they have at many different restaurants at HH. You'd have to eat between 5-6, but then again you can try some great restuarants for only ~$15. per person. Not sure if that will be too rushed if you're arriving that afternoon though.

Hope you have a good trip! :sunny:

I know there is one on the corner of a shopping center near Shelter Cove...same center where there is a Fuddrucker's and a grocery store (Piggly Wiggly?) This one is definitely near DVC.

Not sure about the other locations.

The other location is in sea pines in the small shopping center in the middle where truffles is, not at harbor town or South Beach. I'm sure there's some connection but have been by others who are knowledgeable that they are not related. I now coupons and gift certificates frequently specify only one location rather than both.

Let me clarify: my posts about Sea Pines and the location issue were for Crazy Crab. The Giuseppe's I know are unrelated. We ate at the one by the resort. It was the one we found to be terrible.

I did misunderstand, the Crazy Crab locations are related and the one by the welcome center,k not Harbor Town, is the better by far from all accounts.

This trip ate at the following.

Old Oyster Factory, very good as always. Had reservations for 12 which really worked out. They only take reservations from the concierge.

Boathouse II for lunch TODAY, it was VERY good but limited options at lunch.

Sister ate at Ocean Grill (Harbormasters) last night. Their shrimp was excellent, their prime rib horrible.

Brick Oven Cafe had GREAT pizza.

Kobe steakhouse for Brother and family was very good though why they wanted to go there when they could do that anytime is beyond me.

Going to Hemingways tonight.

Off Topic but the Shannon Tanner show and fireworks at Shelter Cover on Tuesday was the best show I've seen him do, more adult oriented than usual but still fun for the kids.

BTW, I was able to use the DVC discount (staying at a Marriott) and the free sald coupons as well for 12 people. It did take the waitress asking the manager this time, last two times it was "no problem" without even checking.
