Where Should I Stay With My Mom?

My mom gave me the green light on a 5 night trip in January. It will be my mom, myself and my DD who will be 3 then. Which resort - BCV, BWV, OKW, or VWL- do you think my mom would enjoy the most? To my surprise she said that she wanted to visit Disney every day ( I thought she would only want to go one or two days tops). I am thinking OKW since it *seems* so relaxing. What do you think???

I would stay at the BCV or BWV so if you and your son want to keep going your mother is close enough to relax for awhile and you can be at a pack close by. Also, this way you will have a couch in the room instead of having to sit on a bed. But you can't go wrong with OKW either!

Try the BCV as they are just a few steps away from Epcots World Showcase and a boatride from MGM. OKW is wondeful and MY favorite but there is much to do with the Boardwalk and Stormalong Bay.

I faced the same question. In this case I am bringing my family of 5 and my parents. Beach Club is a perfect location with the Boardwalk, Epcot, MGM and a great pool right there. However, since I am doing both a 2-bedroom and a studio, I have chosen OKW. OKW will result in using fewer points and my spouse wanted a location that was a little more relaxing this year.

Yes, I am definately torn! I love the Epcot resort area....I just am not sure if my mom will. Also, we (dh, dd, and myself) will be taking my sis, bil and niece to BWV in October.

Would my mom like to be in the middle of it all at BCV or BWV?

Or will mom want some down time after the parks at OKW?

I don't know what to do!!

(by the way, she says "wherever you want to stay honey is fine with me" - typical mom no help!)

OKW is relaxing, but you know...I find all the DVC properties relaxing in their own way.

We are owners at OKW, so obviously I think it's a great resort. However, there is something to be said for the location of the BCV/BWV area. There is a lot to do if you feel like doing something, but there are nice pool areas and out-of-the-way areas if you feel like hanging out. The quiet pool at the BCV is removed form the lagoon side, so you really don't feel like you're in the middle of all kinds of action.

At the BWV, there are some lovely little out-of-the-way spots, like the rose garden, to relax in, and I am a BIG fan of the Bellevue Lounge, just off the lobby but very intimate.

Of course, with a 3 year old, do you think you'd be spending a lot of time at the MK??? Then you might want to think about VWL, since it has the boat transporation to the MK. That's also a very serene, relaxing resort, and from what I understand, there are a lot of neat things to do at the resort, without having to venture to the MK.

Decisions, decisions....

You did not mention the health status of your mom. If she has
problem knees, etc, you may consider OKW on ground floor near a bus stop...this would also make it closer if you have a car! If mom is a "walker and mover", I'd definitely consider BWV or BCV, especially for the "night life"!

My mom occasionally has flare ups in her feet - a tendon or something. Other than that she loves to walk and is in very good health.

I am thinking I will try for a 1 br at BWV standard view. I probably don't have a very good chance, but I am still within my 11 month window, we'll see. If not, at my 7 month window I will try for a 1br at OKW. Basically to conserve points. I think mom will prefer a 1br over a studio. How does this sound? Thanks,

One reason I love BCV is that I didn't feel that hub-bub, middle of it all, feeling as some do at BWV. It felt much more restful to me. My second favorite is OKW, but I think BCV would be the best compromise in your situation. And remember that unlike OKW, BCV has some lovely rooms to read in (can't remember their names).
